Azealia Banks has slammed her record label on Twitter.

The '212' rapper criticised Universal - which she is currently signed to - saying that she is "begging to be dropped" by the label.

Banks has previously expressed her unhappiness with the numerous delays that her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste has faced since she signed with Universal.

Earlier today (January 26), she tweeted: "I REALLY should have signed with Sony. Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? i'm really in hell here." (sic).

She added: "I'm tired of having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft. they don't even know what they're listening for or to. I'm literally begging to be dropped from Universal."

Banks then urged Universal to hand her over to another label which knows what to do with her.

"My fans really need some new music. I've been gratefully riding off of mixtape fumes for the past two years but I'm more ready than ever....." she concluded.

Banks was originally meant to release Broke With Expensive Taste in September 2012, but the record has been delayed numerous times and is now scheduled for release in March.

Over the last year, Banks has been involved in a number of highly publicised rows, with the likes of Perez Hilton, Lily Allen, Lady Gaga and Disclosure.

I agree with her, there's really no reason why it's been pushed back so much.

She could have released an album and another mixtape in the time since it should have been originally released.
