Why do celebrities need to announce anything about their sexuality? aren't they then just making into a 'big thing' to be discussed when they could just you know not?
Cant they just be what they are and leave it at that without announcing to the world as if everyone gives a ****... |

Maybe he was seen in a gay bar and a Paper could put that out. |

and the fact that if he went out with his boyfriend or was papped at a gay bar, it's not fair on him because it would be twisted and said that he's a liar/closet case/bad example to fellow gays etc. if he does it in his own way, then he has full control. plus he said he still likes girls which is huge because the news papers would just say he's gay... when he says he's apparently not. |
I edited my post to fit the general consensus since I think Josy wasn't specifying Tom Daley's case but the point stands.... it is news channels and online media that make massive deals out of it.

And I agree with Nina's post^

Once journalists start doing their jobs properly, the obsession will end and the celebrities won't feel the need to discuss such issues anymore. |
Eh I'd say it's more that the papers and news are only really fulfilling a public demand for all this celebrity gossip, they're more a symptom than a cause, like the story was the most read one on the BBC news site all day and the DM article for it had nearly 2,000 people commenting
I don't even think it's a new thing particularly either, the public have always been interested in the personal lives of those who are in the public eye a lot |
And I honestly believe that the interest stems from the media reporting on celebrities personal lives, but it has definitely worsened in the last few years
There's a real issue IMO about asking certain people about their relationships, I mean seriously what relevance does Tom Daley's relationship status have when he's stood next to a diving board at the Olympics? Why are journalists asking these questions? Something needs to change because they shouldn't even be allowed to question that sort of thing unless the person brings it up themselves |

Edit: Libel Laws may have prevented them from naming names, but everyone knew who was being written about! |
Bumping this as I found some of the answers fascinating.

i hate seeing all this cisgender/bigender/pansgender/queerstraight **** all over the internet...
i think if you are what you're born with. A dick or a vagina makes you who you are and if you don't like it, then change it... seriously, i saw something on tumblr saying 'people with vaginas...' and then someone said you mean girls? and then the person was like 'no i mean people with vaginas cause not everyone with a vagina is a girl...' LIKE REALLY? Jesus christ its just PC gone mad |
Why do we have to come out? Surely if it's okay we don't have to do it? It doesn't make sense to me why you have to tell your parents/friends/family that you're gay or bi, surely you can just get on with it and be with who you want to be with; no need to announce it.
