Is that not the start of annihilation week? Surely they should move it if they want it to attract attention?
Love Island has been a pain this year. Thank god England got knocked out.

They wouldn't as that's the Euro 2016 final.

And no matter who plays, it gets huge ratings, Euro 2012 Italy Vs Spain was seen by over 13m.

World Cup 2014m Germany v Argentina was watched by 12m on BBC1 and 3m on ITV, so 15m combined and a peak of 21m.

Oh ok lol, didn't realise that.

Why is that funny?

A show you wouldn't want to be cancelled getting low ratings?

I disagree. As last night proved, being away from LI is the best for it. Ratings will be back down over this weekend due to Euro's and LI.

Isnt LI just a repeat over the weekend?

Just Saturday.

And that's a bad day for BB anyway. Tonight and tomorrow BB faces matches and LI. Sunday also faces a match and LI..

billy123 01-07-2016 01:50 PM

Excluding +1:

Big Brother: 0.94m (4.5%)
Love Island: 0.93m (4.4%)

------------------

Big Brother: 1.1m (5.3%) inc. +1

Lord Gavin 02-07-2016 09:39 AM

LOVE ISLAND 1.0m
Big Brother: 0.9m

Love Island wins again

*mazedsalv** 02-07-2016 09:50 AM

Yeah, this isn't good. The skew for young people for LI is double BB's too.

Bet C5 can't wait until LI and Euro's are finished, it got destroyed last night. Wales peaked at 13m last night, obviously LI wasn't dented (wtf, it's so robust!) but BB was.

*mazedsalv** 02-07-2016 11:33 AM

I basically won't take any notice of ratings in the 9pm slot anymore :p

I'll probably care more of the ratings from the Tuesday 12th onwards when both LI and Euro's are finished. Lets be honest, LI have made BB look like idiots.

FFs Annihilation week ?!

Its happened its another Armmagedon / 4 in 4 out type twist.

What is all this about?! The show is doing fine with the housemtes just being themselves and normal nomintions its seemed to have gone back to how it used to be I'm really enjoying the nostalgic feeling but they anticipated the Love Island Final and Euros and came up with some twist which back in the Channel 4 days would be promoted a week before heavily....Like a period but Channel 5 since Viacom took over are clueless when it comes to promotion. Say what you want about the Brian Dowling days but I remember living in London and there were billboards, interactive ads in Westfield and whole buses covered with the BB logo!

ITV2 have the perfect promotion tool of just having an ident of *Love Island tonight 9pm* I thought Viacom would be beasts when it came to advertsing but c'mon if they simply had an ident or like back in the day showed an advert with clips of all the drama people would tune in because **** me seeing Hughie or Jayne going off on one would drag anyone in out of pure curiosity!

This BB cannot afford to be having such low ratings when it launched so low but the officials have been pretty impressive I think that more people are watching BB most night and it has a catch up audience of between 300k/500k which for a civilian series is very impressive! I believe those are the people watching Love Island live and when its over we will see them coming over to the good side lol and will start watching BB live.

Be prepared for a spke in ratings but much lower people watching on catchup!

supertv247 02-07-2016 01:47 PM

I don't think Annihilation week was planned just for ratings, because realistically there are actually only 3 Fridays left and 8 housemates need to be evicted by the final so I'm guessing that's why they need a 'massacre eviction'... If you work it out as one eviction each Friday (except the massacre one) then that means 6 will be going on the massacre, or maybe 5 and a double in the final week.

I think the series is so short because they're scared of the Olympics annihilating it (sorry, had to be done) so they also want to get CBB underway before the Olympics do start. But it is a bit stupid because the ratings are being hurt more by love island and they're not trying to avoid that... And as soon as ratings spike when that's finished, oh, they finish BB too...

The week was always planned. It wasn't a response to ratings. They saw that they had too many people at the start so they planned it. 4in4out didn't appear in the schedule until like 3 days before.

This next week will be tough but starting from the 12th we should see an increase.

What I don't get is WHY shorten the series? Surely extending it so it has more time to grow after LI and Euros finish is better

According to Alex Scott it hasn't been shortened. It was always planned for this length.

I think <2-3mi per episode here in the US would cause many shows to get cancelled. I'm not sure how to interpret UK numbers, but I hope it's not cancelled after this series :(

As far as I'm aware they're stuck with it till the end of the contract anyway.

supertv247 03-07-2016 10:00 AM

So it hit a series low last night, 660k excluding +1. Not good.. Then again, the equivalent episode last year got 700k including +1 so here's hoping it can over take that....

Yep, but like I said, i never take notice of Saturday figures, especially when it's up against a 12m peak match that goes on until 11pm.

supertv247 03-07-2016 10:32 AM

Yeah - 742k with +1.
90k at 11pm for +1 is quite a big figure on a Saturday night, so it's definitely down to the football that clashed with BB averaging 9 million

Plus, it's still up on last years equivalent by 40k, and that had no competition.
