EEE by gun! Coronation Street bosses have come up with a plot involving the cold-blooded slaughter of screeching birds.

What do you think? Leave your comments below

But don’t worry. Janice Battersby and Liz McDonald aren’t being written out just yet.

The birds in question are seagulls—and it could be their blood raining down on the famous cobbles.

ITV chiefs are considering moving the show from its central Manchester base to waterfront location MediaCityUK at nearby Salford Quays.

But a show source told us: “The problem there is the seagulls that make loads of noise.
Poisoning

SAFE: Corrie's Liz
SAFE: Corrie's Liz

“Even one seagull caught on camera would look ridiculous. Weatherfield is supposed to be in Manchester where you mainly get pigeons. The other problem is the costs they could incur. If one flies into the scene they would have to re-shoot, wasting time and money. In meetings there have been some ideas such as poisoning them or hiring a marksman to shoot them.”

The source explained why the famous ITV soap was considering the move. “Currently the indoor filming is done in two studios which are around 400 yards apart which causes logistical problems.

“The knicker factory and Rovers are indoors in one set and the other indoor sets are in a separate warehouse. Part of the outside set is also separated by a wall. They would love to use a vast warehouse for indoor scenes and have outdoor scenes on one continuous set.”

An ITV spokesman confirmed: “We are continuing to examine the available options regarding ITV’s Manchester base.”

CORRIE killer Tony Gordon goes from murderer to midwife this summer when he delivers Maria Connor’s baby on the BEACH.

The factory boss ordered the murder of Maria’s husband, his love rival Liam Connor.

But he has been cosying up to her since his wife Carla left him after hearing what he had done. Maria (Samia Smith) accused him of the murder plot, but charmer Tony (Gray O’Brien) convinced her he was innocent.

Then he starts to fall for her and they drive to the beach for a romantic day trip.
Delivery ... twisted Tony

Delivery ... twisted Tony

As they walk Maria feels her contractions begin and her waters break. Panicking, she says: “Oh God, I think the baby’s coming.”

But Tony keeps his cool and carries her to a deserted strip of beach, where she gives birth. An insider said: “At this point Tony and Maria aren’t lovers but it’s not long after the baby’s born they realise their real feelings.

“Maria had a miscarriage not long ago. Delivering her baby makes Tony a hero in her eyes.”

And it’s not long before twisted Tony has set his heart on a new dream — making a family with Maria and the baby.

Our insider added: “What Tony gets, Tony wants. He’s ruthless and now Carla’s off the scene he’s determined to have Maria — and Liam’s baby.”

ITV Global Entertainment has today announced a deal with Amazon Video On Demand which will see the UK's longest running soap Coronation Street made available on-demand in the US.

200 episodes of the Weatherfield soap, which aired between Christmas 2007 and July 2008, will be rolled out by the end of the month, while a further 20 episodes will be added to the collection every month thereafter.

It is envisaged that US viewers, who will be able to buy the content for 50c per episode, will be viewing episodes of Corrie within one week of UK transmission by the autumn.

John Norman, senior vice president of international sales at ITV Global Entertainment in the US, said: "We'll be working closely with Amazon to effectively schedule new episodes, bringing US fans in line with the latest UK storylines by autumn 2009. The debut perfectly compliments our ITV catalogue on Amazon.com, which proudly showcases the very best in UK programming."

Jason Binks, vice president of digital and new media at ITV Global Entertainment, added: "This is a superb collaboration and one that we're all delighted with. The deal is a great example of our multi-channel approach, strategically bringing our much loved quality programming to a global audience."

It is understood that if there is a demand for such a move, all archived episodes from December 1960 may be made available in the same way.

ITV programming first appeared in the US via Amazon Video On Demand last year, with 450 hours of the network's programming having already been made available. Shows include Cold Feet and Inspector Morse, among others.

There are currently no plans to make full archive episodes available on-demand in the UK.

FRIENDS fear for Coronation Street star Bev Callard after she dramatically took time off.

Sources close to the normally bubbly actress said they were worried after discovering she has not been at the TV studios for over a week.

One said last night: “We have no idea when she’ll be back. She is talking to very few people at the moment and we’re obviously desperate to know she is OK.”

Bev, 51, who plays Rovers landlady Liz McDonald, suffered severe money troubles after her dream of running a real-life pub turned into a nightmare.

She and her partner Jon McEwan poured hundreds of thousands into the venture but still ended up having to close after facing the threat of bankruptcy.

Stress

The couple worked long hours to make the pub a success — yet Liz was still having to get up at 5am to be on Corrie’s set by 7am.

The source added: “It has taken its toll. We knew she had terrible financial problems, which must have been a stress.

“It is awful to see her like this because she is such a bubbly, warm woman. But I am sure she will be OK because she is a fighter.”

Bev told two months ago how she was left devastated after The Gallery in Hale Barns, Cheshire, collapsed.

The final straw came when a brewery representative turned up with a demand for £59,000 in unpaid rent.

Bev was forced to lay off former on-screen son Nick Cochrane — Andy — who she hired to run the restaurant.

She and Jon had put £200,000 into the pub and spent £50,000 on renovations plus tens of thousands more to keep it afloat.

Bev said recently: “The pub was a black hole which took all our cash and all our time. We couldn’t cope any more.”

Joe (Reece Dinsdale) is feeling pressure from all sides. David (Jack P Shepherd) wants him to give him his job back now he has the new kitchen contract but Joe is worried that he hasn't even got the cash to buy the raw materials for the job. Gail (Helen Worth) tries to help Joe out but he is too proud to accept and throws the offer back in her face. Eventually Joe can take no more and decides to pay Len (Conor Ryan) a visit to get the deal back on track - just as David walks in and finds them shaking hands.
Leanne (Jane Danson) tells Janice (Vicky Entwistle) that she has decided to accept the restaurant manager's job in Leeds in order to get away from Peter (Chris Gascoyne). Becky (Katherine Kelly) is determined to do everything right in the run up to her wedding and tells Steve (Simon Gregson) that she has decided not to have a hen night as she doesn't trust herself - opting instead for a quiet night in with Roy and Hayley.

Monday 9 March 8.30pm

It's a night of tears, accustations and revelations at the Platts and by the end of the night Joe (Reece Dinsdale), David (Jack P Shepherd), Gail (Helen Worth) and Tina (Michelle Keegan) know a lot more about each other than they thought possible.

David is stunned when Len Windass (Conor Ryan) gleefully explains how he got Joe the kitchen contract in exchange for getting Tina to change her story in court. Furious David storms home and tells Gail and Tina about the bribe, but that's just the tip of the iceberg as first Tina's abortion secret is revealed followed by Joe discovering that David tried to kill his own mother and topped off with the news that Joe only moved in with Gail as he'd been evicted from his flat - can the two couples survive or will the house of cards come tumbling down with them all inside?

Uncle Umed is making himself at home and is surprised when he overhears a conversation between Tara (Ayesha Dharker) and Jason (Ryan Thomas). As the pair discuss Jason refitting Dev's (Jimmi Harkishin) shop to turn it into an art gallery Umed (Harish Patel) gets the wrong end of the stick and is convinced they are having an affair.

Peter (Chris Gascoyne) is still in a state following Leanne's departure and no amount of talking from Ken (William Roache) is going to make the situation any better.

Liz (Beverly Callard) tries to have a heart to heart with Lloyd (Craig Charles) about their relationship but ends up dumping him after he fails to convince her that he has no problem with their age difference.

This episode is written by Jonathan Harvey and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Stuart Davids.

Wednesday 11 March 7.30pm

Becky (Katherine Kelly) is counting the days till her wedding and amuses Steve (Simon Gregson) with her efforts to memorise her last few hours as a single woman. Having given in to Liz's insistence that she has a hen night Becky excitedly arrives at the Rovers with Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) - just in time to hear half the pub, including Lloyd (Craig Charles), having a bet on the wedding not happening. Devastated she goes to find Steve who wastes no time in telling his mum and his best friend what he thinks of them and barring them from the wedding.

The fallout from the previous night is still being felt with Tina (Michelle Keegan) telling David (Jack P Shepherd) that it is over and Joe nowhere to be found. Unaware that Gail (Helen Worth) and her dad have actually split up Tina confides in Gail about her dad's previous problems with depression and asks her to take care of him whilst she is not around.

Ken (William Roache) tells Peter (Chris Gascoyne) that he has to stay off the booze and start behaving like a responsible adult for Simon's sake. Peter takes it on board and in a bid to prove that he is a good dad he buys Simon (Alexander Bain) a pet rabbit - but he's less than impressed by Simon's desire to call it Leanne.

Meanwhile Ken (William Roache) is feeling guilty about his kiss with Martha and tells Ted (Michael Byrne) about his turmoil. Ted tells him that he is going to have to make a decision about what he does next.

This episode is written by Mark Burt and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Stuart Davids.

Friday 13 March 7.30pm

It's Friday the 13th and Becky (Katherine Kelly) is determined to make sure her wedding day goes to plan. Liz (Beverly Callard) is desperately trying to apologise as Steve (Simon Gregson) gets ready at the pub but he insists that they are not welcome.

Keen to try and make ammends Liz (Beverly Callard) and Lloyd (Craig Charles) decide to prepare a surprise wedding reception for the happy couple.

Meanwhile over at Roy's Rolls Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) and Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) are putting the finishing touches to the bride's dress, hair and make-up. Becky looks an absolute picture in her dream dress but her nerves start to get the better of her and she knocks back the champagne glass after glass. Slightly tiddly she panics that Steve is about to see her as she leaves and dashes to the builders' yard to hide but that's where things start to go wrong and as she rips her dress. Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley start to wonder if they will ever get her to the registry office on time!

Elsewhere Gail (Helen Worth) is worried about Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and shocked when she finds him dishevelled in the lock-up. Joe is overcome with emotion as she hugs him and asks him to come home.

Tara (Ayesha Dharker) shows Dev (Jimmi Harkshin) her extravagent plans for the art gallery, prompting him to suggest that they need to cut back on expenditure.

Luke (Craig Kelly), meanwhile, is trying to put pressure on Tom (Philip Mcginley) and Maria (Samia Smith) to sell him their share of Ladrags.

This episode is written by Chris Fewtrell and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Stuart Davids.

Friday 13 March 8.30pm

Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) are desperately trying to get Becky (Katherine Kelly) to the wedding but whilst they are at the factory trying to fix her dress she hears about the fight that Karen and Tracy had on the roof. High on champagne and adrenalin she heads for the roof and bursts into song spraying the street with champagne like a formula one winner.

Steve (Simon Gregson) meanwhile is getting increasingly worried about where his bride to be has got to and is relieved when she finally arrives at the registry office - even though she is having to be held up by Roy - and the couple prepare to tie the knot.

Back at the Rovers Liz (Beverly Callard) and Lloyd (Craig Charles) wait excitedly for the newlyweds to arrive and Liz is thrilled when Lloyd publicly announces that Liz is his girlfriend.

One couple still struggling to get things back to normal are Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and Gail (Helen Worth). She pleads with him to give the relationship another go and tells him she knows all about the depression but Joe doesn't seem to want to listen.

As Luke (Craig Kelly), Maria (Samia Smith) and Tom (Philip McGinley) meet to discuss the future of Ladrags Tony (Gray O'Brien) walks in and is angry to discover that his nemesis is trying to muscle in on that business too. Tony decides to offer Maria some business advice of his own and she is surprisingly receptive, apologising for thinking badly of him in the past.

This episode is written by Debbie Oates and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Stuart Davids.

CORRIE kidnapper John Stape is coming back to the soap — to marry Fiz behind bars.

The former teacher, who had a fling with pupil Rosie Webster before keeping her prisoner, will wed Fiz in jail after she forgives him for his crimes.

The pair split when Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) discovered he was giving 16-year-old Rosie (Helen Flanagan) private lessons of an intimate nature.

Forgiving ... bride-to-be Fiz

Forgiving ... bride-to-be Fiz

Eventually she forgave him but they split when deranged John (Graeme Hawley) confessed to kidnapping Rosie.

Fiz helped the terrified teenager to escape.

Despite his crimes, Fiz starts to forgive John when she receives love letters he has written from his prison cell.

Soon Fiz realises John is finding it hard to survive in jail, where he is serving a two-year sentence.

He is being bullied and beaten by other inmates, who regard him as no better than a sex offender.

Fiz is so determined to keep his spirits up that on one visit she proposes to him and he jumps at the chance of marrying her.

But John doesn’t want to wait till his release and so they agree to hold the wedding inside the prison.

Fiz isn’t sure at first whether to go ahead, but she is convinced by close friends that it would be the right thing to do.

Her pal Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) tells her: “Go for it, Fiz. It’ll be dead romantic.

“You can have the wedding in prison and then you can have a big party when John gets out.”

Coronation Street actress Jane Danson was reportedly rushed to hospital yesterday to give birth to her second child.

The 30-year-old - who plays bookie and former prostitute Leanne Battersby - was expected to give birth next month, making her the fourth cast member within a fortnight to welcome a new arrival to the family.

Her baby, however, is due to arrive slightly prematurely.

A source told The Sun: "Jane is in hospital and we are awaiting some exciting news any time now."

Earlier this month, Alison King (Carla Gordon) gave birth to her daughter Daisy Mae.

Meanwhile, Jack P Shepherd's (David Platt) partner Lauren Shippey also delivered a daughter, who has been named Nyla Rae.

Wanda Opalinska (Vicki Dankowska) gave birth to a healthy baby boy called Rafal within the same week.

Danson and her co-star husband Robert Beck (Jimmy Dockerson) already have a two-year-old son called Harry Alexander Jack, who was born in July 2006.

The only remaining expectant parent at Corrie is Graeme Hawley (John Stape), whose wife is due to give birth in June.

BRAVE Corrie star Kym Marsh has returned to work just two weeks after the tragic death of her baby son, TV Biz can reveal.

The grief-stricken actress made a comeback to the cobbles earlier this week.

Kym, 32, barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap, had tiny Archie Jay 18 weeks early on February 11.

She was expecting the son with her actor-fiancé Jamie Lomas — Warren Fox in Hollyoaks.

A show source said: “Kym is devastated but wanted to get back to work and try and start getting back to normal.

“We’re very careful to make sure she doesn’t do too much. She’s been through so much. Her friends on the show are being an enormous source of comfort.”

Kym announced the end of her marriage to former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder last March.

She also has two children from a previous relationship.
