Ronnie was great I agree 08.

Cant wait to see what happens tonight, poor Kat + Alf!

flamingGalah! 01-01-2011 04:03 PM

You can tell where they edited out showing Kat lying in a blood soaked bed & seeing her covered in blood too... Also cut out were shots of Ronnie touching her dead babys hand...

I don't like the storyline & it is absurd that you wouldn't recognise your own baby! They don't all look alike (unless they are identical twins) :nono:

This isn't EastEnders tackling the subject of cotdeath, simply EastEnders doing something for shock value/drama & to hit the headlines...

bbfan1991 01-01-2011 07:23 PM

Obviously it's going to affect lots of viewers but I believe Eastenders are portraying it sensitively and if this storyline manages to help someone then good.

Poor OFCOM, they were hoping for a less stressful start to 2011 then this happens:joker:.

Poor Kat :bawling:

InOne 01-01-2011 08:07 PM

Tonights episode was so bad, jesus. So yeah, we're meant to believe Roxy would leave her sister who is clearly very upset, for her annoying random gay mate who is banging on about some stupid kiss.

Also all these 'distractions' Alfie was having, erm you're about to check your new born kid and someone is shouting you about a CD player, like you'd actually go down. You'd obv make the baby total priority.

The baby switching doesn't wash either. If you're a new parent surely you're gonna stare in awe at your kid for hours on end, theres no way you'd mix them up.

I know:(, I feel for Ronnie too because she is pyschologically damaged after all those bad things happening to her, the writers are to blame for not wanting the poor woman to EVER be happy.

Kerry 01-01-2011 08:18 PM

Terrible episode after a couple of great ones. Shame. I so hoped it wasn't going to happen and she'd kept her own baby. Kats scream brought tears to my eyes

Marsh. 01-01-2011 08:54 PM

I didn't like it either. The execution is all wrong and Scott Maslen's attempt at crying was awful. Hope his acting doesn't drag the others down. Sitting in the square hearing Kat scream felt a bit forced.
But I do feel better after hearing that tomorrow Kat notices the baby's not hers and screams it's not the child she gave birth to but obviously everyone puts it down to grief.
Least they're not making her out to be a complete moron.

But Kat being in and out of hospital is ridiculous. It's a crappy plot device that screams "Get her out the way for Ronnie to make the switch and then back again just in time to react to the death". It's just not having the effect the producers are going for. There's way too many glaringly obvious coincidences and conveniences. They'd have been better off with the two babies being switched in hospital or something.

Im watching on BBC2

Smithy 01-01-2011 09:20 PM

Im watching on BBC3, coz I missed it earlier

Surely they'd notice the baby'll have changed clothes

How was it terrible?

Actually yeah there was a point about 15 minutes in where I was like just thinking is this just some chance to show the characters falling over eachother drunk in a pub with a bunch of blokes shouting 'Wahhhay!' every 4 minutes.

But the ending was good.
It's a soap, It's meant to be dramatic, it's hardly terrible.

Glad that Kat notices the difference, surely this will mean she will notice Ronnie has her baby then? Cant help thinking wont Roxy be suspicious too??? After trying not to let her see 'James'.

I think that was the point, to build up if the swap will happen or not and when will they eventually find out the baby is dead.

I don't know why but I have a suspicion Shirley will find out because recently her, Kat and Ronnie have been close..

Kerry 02-01-2011 12:02 AM

Kat'll kill her. Ronnies done for. Jack will abandon her, as will Roxy as a mother herself. Her only hope would be her own mother.

Marsh. 02-01-2011 01:36 AM

I don't think they'll abandon her. They'll have the obligatory screaming and shouting from Kat. Jack will be disgusted and then Ronnie will have a full on breakdown and him and Roxy will have her sectioned. That's what I think anyway, then she'll come back six months later and the writers will think up another scenario in which she'll lose a child. Knowing this show anyway.

I meant the writing is too coincidental. The timing of the death as Kat is rushed into hospital, Charlie leaving the baby alone, Ronnie making the switch and then Kat making it back in time to react to the death, and Jack pulling up as Ronnie makes her way over to take the baby back.

I mean obviously they need to use plot devices for them to tell a story but there's too many obvious/implausible ones.

Jords 02-01-2011 01:44 AM

I seriously think they should keep it a secret for years. What Archie did to Ronnie about Dannielle is what Ronnie could do to Kat with Tommy.

So Ronnie would become the thing she hates the most, her dad.

Marsh. 02-01-2011 03:45 PM

Apparently the reveal has been filmed so it should be out within a couple of months.

Why does the stupid snow have to start messing my sky up when Eastenders is due to start!!!!!!!!!!

Marsh. 03-01-2011 07:09 PM

Patrick shuts up shop, Bianca breaks down and Syed randomly offers to cover for her. Are they not used to death, it's Albert Square. And Christian needs to get over himself, it was barely a kiss.

Kerry 03-01-2011 08:05 PM

Great acting tonight. Well done Jessie

Callum 04-01-2011 05:59 PM

Anyone notice on New Year's Eve a lot of kids were left without babysitters? Heather didn't have one for George, neither did Jane and Ian for Bobby Beale and Oscar Branning was left alone too.

bbfan1991 04-01-2011 06:02 PM

Rumours are that EE have already filmed the reveal, I heard that they could reveal the truth in 6 weeks but the effects last for 2 years because it's something that can't be brushed under the carpet or forgotten like some stuff in soapland...

Callum 04-01-2011 06:04 PM

Yeah reveal has defo been filmed and compaints for this storyline have reached 3,400 already
