Chat show host Jeremy Kyle is preparing to present a series of Coronation Street podcasts and he needs your help.
He wants Corrie fans to have a say in the show, called Word on the Street, to be made exclusively for ITV.com. So, who’s your favourite character? What’s been your favourite storyline recently? What’s had you laughing or crying? Who do you fancy? What would you like to see happen on the cobbles? Or is there anything you’d just like to get off your chest about Corrie? Email your views to corrie@itv.com giving your name and the area you’re from. A Coronation Street spokesman said: “Jeremy Kyle will be dipping into a number of messages and giving his own opinion on them. We want opinions about everything but we’re particularly keen to hear what people think of Steve and Becky. Is Becky good enough for Steve? Do you want to see them together? Do you know a real life Steve or Becky?” The sooner you email in your comments, the more chance you’ll have of Jeremy using them in his podcasts. So get emailing and let us know what you think |

TEARAWAY teen Victoria Sugden is set to make waves in Emmerdale — by announcing that she is PREGNANT.
The 15-year-old makes the shock revelation after sleeping with her foster brother Daz Eden. Following the illicit encounter Daz (Luke Tittensor) gives Victoria, played by Isabel Hodgins, 15, the cold shoulder and goes off with girlfriend Scarlett. The schoolgirl — who recently snogged Aaron Livsey (Danny Miller) — then tries to win Daz back by telling him she is having his child. An ITV1 source said: “There’s always been something between Victoria and Daz and they finally do something about it. Victoria is over the moon she’s snared him but Daz has different ideas, leaving her seething. “She convinces him he’s going to be a father but is she telling the truth?” The scenes air next month. ANDREW Sachs is seen arriving for his first day of work at Coronation Street. The Fawlty Towers actor - who was the victim of Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand's phone prank last year - strolled into the soap's Manchester studios today to start filming. Sachs, 78, will play Ramsay Clegg, the half-brother of Norris Cole. Ramsay is the illegitimate son of Norris's mother, who gave birth to him when she was a teenager. After the phone scandal, the popular actor was reportedly inundated with offers of work. |
Emmerdale now, where it's the week of Carl (Tom Lister) and Lexi's (Sally Oliver) wedding. On the morning of his nuptials, Carl works himself up into such a frenzy that he calls Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and asks her to meet with him at the cricket pavilion.
When they eventually come face to face, Carl tells Chas exactly how it is - if she says that she still loves him he'll call off the wedding. Chas is dumbfounded by what she's hearing and despite Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and Aaron (Danny Miller) weighing heavily on her mind, she's forced to make a difficult decision. While Carl and Chas have a heart-to-heart, Lexi arrives at the church where Jimmy's (Nick Miles) forced to lie as to Carl's whereabouts. Lexi clearly doesn't buy the yarn she's been spun and immediately begins to worry that she's been jilted. Will Chas come clean with Carl and reveal her true feelings? Or will she keep her true love for Carl stowed away for a rainy day? Check back on Tuesday for my exclusive interview with Lucy Pargeter! Also, there's an extremely interesting new signing on the horizon, too. More on that one as and when I can. http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/12...9_chascarl.jpg http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/12...immynicola.jpg http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/12...arlettlexi.jpg Meanwhile Dev's (Jimmy Harkishin) at it again in Coronation Street. Just when you thought that he might just settle down with Tara (Ayesha Dharker), he has another fling. Sort of. With her art gallery business a little slow (to say the least), Tara's excited when she finally sells three paintings to a London-based art dealer. What she doesn't know, however, is that Dev enlisted kebab shop worker Minnie (Poppy Jhakra) to fake the purchase over the phone. Tara hits the roof when she eventually learns of her boyfriend's betrayal, and even packs her bags to move out of the flat. It's not long before Dev's seeking solace in the arms of another woman, though, when he bumps into Tara's father Prem's (Madhav Sharma) accountant, Lisa Dalton (Ruth Alexander-Rubin). If you cast your mind back, we first met Lisa back in August when Dev was frequenting Prem's house, before his affair with Tara's mum Nina (Harvey Virdi) was exposed! Boy, Dev gets himself into some situations, doesn't he?! I digress... So after having retired to the bedroom with Lisa, Dev finds himself in a tricky post-coital situation when Tara turns up at the flat to apologise. Little does Tara know that a half-dressed Lisa is a matter of feet away, hiding in the bedroom... http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/12...adevtara01.jpg |
HERE is the hunk who puts Corrie smoothie Dev Alahan in a rage — by getting his girlfriend to strip.
Tara Mandal peels off for a raunchy photoshoot with new arty photographer pal Justin. Tara (Ayesha Dharker) insists the camera makes her feels sexy — and Justin (Ralph Gassmann) is not shy in egging her on. Glam pair ... Dev and Tara Glam pair ... Dev and Tara Cousans/ZENPIX LTD But Dev (Jimmy Harkishin) gets the shock off his life when he walks in on her posing in the buff. The angry shop owner gives her a public dressing down in the Rovers. And he lays into Justin, suggesting the cheeky snapper is nothing more than a PORNOGRAPHER. Advertisement He tells him: “There’s a name for people like you who take pictures of naked woman, my friend, and it’s certainly not a photographer.” But Dev’s anger also stems from his belief he should be the model, telling pals: “I have suddenly realised how fantastically photogenic I am. “My face could sell stuff. I could even be on the front cover of a magazine.” Deluded Dev even starts wearing ‘guyliner’ — eyeliner for men — in a bid to show off his good looks. But Dev is in no position to rap Tara — as he puts the relationship in jeopardy by bedding his ex, Lisa. Tara moves out after a row over the art gallery, but returns home to make up — and almost finds a half-naked Lisa in the flat. The scenes air on the ITV1 soap next month. |
Former Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has joined the cast of Emmerdale.
The 26-year-old, who starred as John Paul McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, is to take on the role of mechanic Ryan Lamb, son of Faye (Kim Thomson). Ryan first appears in the village in June and quickly becomes entangled in his mother's revenge plot against Mark Wylde (Maxwell Caulfield), while also catching the attention of many of the local females, most notably Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward). As Mark attempts to prevent the skeletons in his closet from emerging, Ryan's arrival makes the self-made millionaire realise just what his lies could cost him. Speaking of his signing, Sutton said: "I'm thrilled to be joining a show as respected and well-loved as Emmerdale. It was always on in our house when I was growing up so I’m excited to be a part of it. "I'm looking forward to playing such an interesting character and one so different from previous roles I've played." Series producer Gavin Blyth added: "This year will spell a new era for Emmerdale and I'm delighted to be welcoming James to the cast as a key component in the new direction the show will be taking. James is an extremely talented actor and will bring a real presence to the role of Ryan." Sutton is the fourth actor announced to be joining Emmerdale as part of the show's 2009 revamp. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Jeff Hordley will reprise his role as Cain Dingle at the end of April. At the same time, UK soap's first blind actress Kitty McGeever joins as Lisa Dingle's (Jane Cox) friend Lizzie Lakely. Emma Atkins is also due to return as vixen Charity Tate. Sutton announced his decision to quit Hollyoaks in June last year following his two-year stint as John Paul when the teen soap's McDean storyline reached its natural Sunset Ending resolve. His departure tied in with the brief return of Guy Burnet as Craig Dean. At the end of last year, Sutton made a guest appearance as a narcoleptic in Casualty Digi Spy |
Emmerdale’s series of new signings for 2009 continues with the casting of award-winning actor James Sutton to play Faye’s son Ryan Lamb in the ITV1 show.
James is best-known for his role as John Paul in Hollyoaks and will arrive on-screen in Emmerdale in June, when mechanic Ryan turns up in the village to stay with his mum after losing his job. Ryan quickly becomes embroiled in Faye’s (Kim Thomson) plot for revenge against Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) as Mark continues to face a battle to keep Faye’s identity under wraps, realising his secret past could blow his beloved family apart. Ryan turns the heads of the local ladies and soon becomes involved with Emmerdale favourite Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward). James Sutton, 26, says: "I'm thrilled to be joining a show as respected and well-loved as Emmerdale. It was always on in our house when I was growing up so I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to playing such an interesting character and one so different from previous roles I’ve played.” In addition to his role in Hollyoaks for which he was shortlisted for Most Popular Actor at the National Television Awards in 2007, James’ previous acting credits include Casualty, Dream Team, and Trial and Retribution. James’ casting is one in a series of new signings in place for Emmerdale. Last week it was announced that Emma Atkins will be reprising her much-loved role as Charity Tate later this year and further announcements will follow shortly, as the nation’s favourite village is re-vamped for 2009. So far this year the Wylde family have taken the village by storm and viewers are already hotly anticipating the return of dales bad boy Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who is set to recommence his reign in April. The wedding of Carl (Tom Lister) and Lexi (Sally Oliver) is on the horizon, with Chas (Lucy Pargeter) forced to face the prospect of the man she loves marrying her rival. Emmerdale has also recently announced the casting of the first blind actress to appear in a British soap when Kitty McGeever joins the cast as trouble-maker Lizzie Lakely next month. Gavin Blyth, Series Producer, says: "This year will spell a new era for Emmerdale and I’m delighted to be welcoming James to the cast as a key component in the new direction the show will be taking. James is an extremely talented actor and will bring a real presence to the role of Ryan.” |
Coronation Street actor Philip McGinley has finished filming with the soap, DS can confirm.
The 27-year-old, who has played Connor's cousin Tom Kerrigan since February 2008, shot his final scenes with the Manchester-based show last week, before attending his leaving party on Friday. It is understood that producers decided to write Tom out of the serial drama as the character had 'come to the end of his line' and 'run his course'. McGinley hinted that he may return to theatre, writing on his Twitter page in the early hours of this morning: "Trying to learn a bit of Shakespeare, it's a bit different to the stuff I've been saying in Weatherfield. Brain creaking slightly." His exit storyline wraps up the plot surrounding Lad Rags, in which Tom owns a 25% share. The company will apparently be sold off to Tony (Gray O'Brien), leaving Tom with nothing to stay in Weatherfield for. Since his first appearance, ladies' man Tom has flirted with Carla (Alison King) and Maria (Samia Smith), served as a catalyst for Marcus Dent's (Charlie Condou) departure, walked Ozzy the dog several times and witnessed his cousin Liam's (Rob James-Collier) death, which he blamed himself for. CORONATION Street beer – it’s official.
From next month fans will be able to sup a Corrie pint, a nice chap at ITV told me today. But there’s a catch. The “quality draught ale” will only be available in the chain of pubs run by Manchester brewer JW Lees. ITV has signed a new license which allows the brewer to create and distribute the 4.2 per cent cask ale. You’d have thought Newton & Ridley might be quite bitter about this development. But it seems not. Back in the glory days of the now long gone Granada Studios Tour, you used to be able to buy all manner of Corrie merchandise. I’ve still got some Rovers’ beer glasses in the kitchen, though the beer mats were, sadly, taken by the mice. Did the Tours' shop also sell little bottles of beer? I’m sure Flaming Nora or someone else nearest the bar will be able to refresh my memory. As with all such corporate announcements, this one came adorned with statements from both sides. Although we can only guess what Betty would make of these two hot pots: JW Lees managing director William Lees-Jones said: “We’re delighted to have signed this deal. Coronation Street is one of the most famous streets in the world. With our shared Manchester heritage, we’re excited to be teaming up with them to provide a premium quality draught ale which will be as complex and robust as a good Corrie plot line.” While Gustavo Antonioni, Commercial Brands Director at ITV Global, no less, comments: “We are dedicated to innovating highly engaging brand extensions that resonate with the core values and history of our television shows. We're looking forward to bringing more quality products to life for our programmes’ fans.” Personally, my hopes are pinned on Becky Granger’s favourite quality product. A three litre £1.99 bottle of Thunderclap cider, with a cheeky hint of corner shop marker pen. Manchester Evening News |

THIS is the terrifying moment Corrie’s bookies is hit by a raging inferno. Peter Barlow and his lad Simon are stuck inside. Alcoholic Peter (Chris Gascoyne) starts the fierce blaze when he drops a cigarette after nodding off following a booze binge in the flat above the shop. He is woken by Simon (Alex Bain) but then falls on the lad trapping them both in the fume-filled building. They pass out — but factory boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly) and villainous Tony Gordon (Gray O’Brien) rescue the pair — along with their pet rabbit. Simon is left fighting for his life. Days before the scenes air in the ITV1 soap on Monday, Peter’s step-mum Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) finds out he is back on the booze and tries to get Simon to stay with her and Ken. But Ken (William Roache) says his grandson is best with his dad — only to be left feeling guilty after the fire. An insider said: “Peter is devastated by what he has done.” |
