Because you can't go a year without Sharon Needles drama, a fan of hers has come out and claimed that they were groomed and abused by her whilst underage (no sexual abuse, but still):

Full claim here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...FDZXzzb4g/edit

Ammi 28-06-2020 02:25 PM

...that’s quite a disturbing read, did you read it all..?...

Shaun 28-06-2020 05:00 PM

Yeah I read the google doc last night, it's just pretty horrific really. I know a lot of it can be passed off as shock humour, and I understand why people just stick to "shock humour" but it also really isn't a defense and it gets old real quick if it's all you rely on.

I am of the opinion that children and teenagers shouldn't be allowed at drag shows, or events like this. I just don't agree with it at all, and that's without the extreme circumstances around this fan. I think teenagers especially are just way too emotionally invested in queens (because they're completely liberated of societal norms I guess, and living out every adolescent "**** authority!!!" dream) and spend wayyyyy too much time worshiping them on Twitter, getting into fights over them like they're Pokemon cards, and just creating this very immature tribal element to the Drag Race community.

I think whatever mental health issues this person was going through were amplified by attention from a "celebrity", and that's wrong from both Sharon's and the kid's parents' perspectives. The examples of being made fun of, "encouraged" to "cut deeper" etc, joke or not, are just... disgusting and a blight on the Drag Race name, sadly.

It's too easy to say "no more kids at drag shows" and just blame that connection when the queens are clearly to blame for their actions, but I do think that still needs to happen before something even worse happens and the entire drag community becomes vilified.

...yeah I agree with everything you’ve said and most definitely, there are some aspects which are disturbing because of her age ...but it’s also that her vulnerability, her own emotional insecurities/issues etc..could have equally been applied to someone older, that the influences could have been the same...because it was a control that the drag queen seemed to feel over her..?...personally I don’t know anything about the queens beyond the show because I do t really follow any ‘celebrity’ so I’m not aware of any Sharon Needles dramas...but the small group of queens and underage fans, is quite a disturbing aspect also...

chi chi is in hospital going through kidney failure. wishing her the best

“I tested negative for Covid, so I don’t have that, but I have high blood pressure and they’ve said that I’m going through kidney failure.

‘So tomorrow they’re going to give me a biopsy on my kidneys and let me know what it is that’s making my blood pressure so high, so I just want to say that I love you guys.’“

Braden 16-07-2020 06:05 PM

Oh, god love her! I hope she ends up okay

Ammi 16-07-2020 06:32 PM

...it sounds as though she’s had other health issues as well and a general awful time for her...May her tests and results prove okay and may she be well soon....

Captain.Remy 16-07-2020 08:01 PM

Shaun 16-07-2020 08:17 PM

It honestly breaks my heart how many health problems Chi Chi has gone through. Such a talented queen having her abilities stripped from her is so cruel

Ammi 16-07-2020 08:23 PM

...Kidney disease is linked to Scleroderma, which she was diagnosed with in 2018, I read...

Ammi 18-07-2020 05:09 AM

...I was just reading some of the Twitter messages from other Queens...so much love for Chi Chi......

Emmy nominations are in. The episode submitted for all categories - pretty much - was the "I'm That Bitch" S12 premiere. RuPaul's Drag Race is up for 13 of them...

- Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program
- Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program
- Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program (for Zaldy)
- Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program
- Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program
- Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality Program (for the Ball Ball episode) (guess they submitted 2 episodes for different categories)
- Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling for a Variety/Nonfiction/Reality Program (not for Delta Work any more :( she was replaced)
- Outstanding Contemporary Makeup for a Variety/Nonfiction/Reality Program (Raven is nominated here, alongside 3 others)
- Outstanding Host of a Reality / Competition Program (for RuPaul, obviously)
- Outstanding Short form Nonfiction/Reality Series (for RuPaul's Drag Race Out of the Closet )
- Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program (for RuPaul's Drag Race Untucked)
- Outstanding Competition Program
- Outstanding Soundmixing for a Nonfiction/Reality Program

It's also worth pointing out that this is the first year where queens from the show could actually snatch an Emmy from Drag Race: Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka and Shangela's show "We're Here" on HBO is up for 'Unstructured Reality Program' too.
