[Johnson PM hails 'new dawn' as UK and Australia
agree free trade deal

The prime minister says the agreement
"opens fantastic opportunities for British businesses
and consumers".

Downing Street said the deal will help distillers
by scrapping tariffs of up to 5% on Scotch whisky,
while car manufacturers in the Midlands and the
North of England will see tariffs of up to 5% cut

• Number 10 said more than 450 businesses in Wales exported
to Australia last year and stand to benefit,
while "life science companies and
chemicals manufacturers are set to benefit in particular"
• It said that in Northern Ireland,
90% of all exports to Australia are "machinery
and manufacturing goods used extensively in
Australia's mining, quarrying and
recycling sectors", and under the deal tariffs will
be removed and customs procedures "simplified"]

Do you know what deal means, Arista? Basically an end to our farming industry, and the lowering of standards when it comes to the meat we'll be eating. Still levelling up?

Do you also know what the benefits are for each householder in the uk are equal to? Up to £1.30 per year. Not a minimum of, but up to.

I keep telling you all this is absolute nonsense, but you keep believing the liars and crooks, regardless of how many times they keep lying to you.

Can you explain how the meat we will eat will be of a lower standard?

Yeah, of course. It comes down to maximum farming levels. So for example, what we currently have over here would be a maximum level of x cows in a heard (I'm not sure of the exact numbers, and can't be arsed to look it up but I think it's under 1k), whereas in Australia, their farms would have around 30k cows.

So it's basically similar to the old battery farming techniques where they pack them in, pump them with drugs, and because they're dealing in such huge numbers, they can produce cheaper meat. Those standards wouldn't have been allowed in the EU.

Trade agreements are always 2-way. I think our biggest exports are whiskey and cheese.

We know a lot, but until it starts, putting a number on it is impossible. What we do know is that British farmers see this as a massive loss, and Ozzy farmers see it as a massive win, so that should tell you something.

UK food and drink exports to the European Union almost halved in the first three months of the year, compared with the same period in 2020.

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) figures show EU sales dropped by 47%.

The trade body said the decline was largely due to changes in the UK's trading relationships, but said the pandemic was also a factor.

The government said it was "too early to draw any firm conclusions" on the long term impact of Brexit.

It shows it really was about xenophobia, honestly. Any honest brexiteers would see what it's done to farming and fishing who brexiteers used repeatedly to lie about the EU, and say hold on, this wasn't what was supposed to happen, but no, still supporting this destruction of the country.
