Incest: Dying mother Barbara Owen enjoys a passionate deathbed kiss with her son before crudely licking her lips.

That happened??? :o Disgusting!

The only thing I find hard to watch is Alfie not being funny and cheerful anymore, that's it.

Baby James fans should think of it like this, in 3 years time he could be the new face for Triple Velvet after gaining so much support on such a big soap.

The storyline will be over soon anyways, They need to bring back ZsaZsa and make her turn lesbian and that will take people's minds of it.

So people are not allowed an opinion that differs to yours?? Right oh...

And swearing shows an overall lack of intelligence Patrick... :nono:

This will all pass and be forgotten about. I think Ronnie has stressed out over the complaints and that. That she has now decided to leave.

Jessica. 07-01-2011 11:59 AM

My cousins little son died when he was a few weeks old and her and her other kids were reminded of it by EE and it was quite distressing. :/ I felt so sad for her but really, I think it is good for EastEnders to raise awareness of such issues.

Callum 07-01-2011 12:07 PM

I don't understand how people can say everyone is over reacting. Some mums lose their babies to cot death and believe it or not they are unhappy with this storyline! Okay some people are jumping on the bandwagon with this, that I agree with but some people are genuinely upset and distressed by it. None of the complaints have been about the cot death plot, in fact that has actually been praised, it's the swap element which is causing the controversy. It is sick to see a woman take someone's baby, not caring one bit about the grief she's causing it's parents. I know she's ill but still she knows what she's doing. In real life when babies are snatched, the parents never see their baby again, this storyline is different in that eventually the baby will be reunited with Kat and Alfie. It's just so unrealistic, I've never heard of a "baby swap" in real life and it's ruined what could have been a real hard hitting plot (cot death). But that being said, I personally have no problem watching the scenes, I am and will always be a fan of EE and I think the acting in this storyline has been fantastic.

I'll agree with the article about the sensational, desperate attempt at ratings with a very unrealistic (and upsetting) baby swap. But,

Quote:

But how often does your everyday life involve murder, prostitution, incest, rape, paedophilia, homosexual affairs, torture, gang fights, drug addiction, alcoholism or armed robbery?
Do they not report stories involving all of the above all of the time?
Not a single individual's everyday life, but those horrid things are happening all the time in the real world. And even if they didn't Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and the majority of TV is as guilty of it as Eastenders. That article is just jumping on the bandwagon and trying to sound intelligent.
And aren't they themselves being offensive with the 'homosexual affairs' comment? Wouldn't 'affairs' in general be apt. What difference does the sexuality make?

Quote:

Worse, the bereaved mother is portrayed as an immoral madwoman when in fact she deserves sympathy.
And that's a silly comment. Ronnie isn't being portrayed as a villain 100%. She's been going mad for the past two years.
And as for 'immoral'. Well it is immoral isn't it, that's why they're complaining?

Quote:

“It has upset a lot of mums and dads who have been through the worst nightmare a parent can endure and stayed sane, sensible and responsible.”
Not surprised it upsets them, it's bound to. But i'm sure there are a lot of things other than a TV show (which they shouldn't watch if they're offended anyway) which reminds them of the tragedy everyday.

And also where does Anne Diamond get the idea that the show is trying to show that every woman who loses a child loses her senses and would swap the dead baby for their neighbours live one. Again, that relates to the fictional story of Ronnie Mitchell.

BOOSH 07-01-2011 06:40 PM

Apparently they've had to change it now???

Yeah, could conclude as early as April now.

Ronnie today when Kat came in was awful! Kat must have felt she was the cause and Ronnie had to keep 'her' baby away.

Callum 07-01-2011 09:05 PM

Ronnie was so harsh tonight to Kat, I really have no sympathy towards her. Really felt for Kat when she asked to hold the baby which is really her's. Can't wait for this storyline to be over in all honesty, it's depressing.

bbfan1991 07-01-2011 09:10 PM

Kat and Alfie:bawling:, I know what Ronnie's done is awful and i'm supposed to dislike her but I still like her;).

Marsh. 07-01-2011 10:34 PM

I thought the acting was great from the four characters (even Shane Richie, surprisingly).

Patrick 07-01-2011 10:41 PM

We need to get Fatboy to join in the storyline, Maybe he can be the baby's real father.

That would brighten it up.

Are you saying that they forgot about it until this episode of EE?

Well then tell her not to watch it, problem solved.

Jords 08-01-2011 02:41 PM

LOL at it being the most complained about storyline ever, deary me.

Callum 08-01-2011 05:35 PM

Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace have really shone in this storyline. Bet all the people who were dreading their comeback and slating them for the 2004/2005 ratings decline era are eating their words now.

Patrick 08-01-2011 05:40 PM

Shane Richie is just a legend though, I love how he's always the same in anything he does on telly, as he is playing Alfie.

Shocking Whitney spoiler

Spoiler:

The Daily Mirror reports that 18-year-old Whitney - Bianca Butcher's step-daughter, played by Shona McGarty - will become a £50-a-time hooker after a row with her family.
Whitney was previously the victim of child abuse by Bianca's former partner Tony King. Scriptwriters are collaborating with Comic Relief on the storyline, which will highlight the sexual exploitation of young women.

I actually think this will be interesting and i'm glad that EE aren't giving in to the OFCOM brigade, bet they'll be ringing up about this next:rolleyes:. This kind of thing has been in the news recently so hopefully it will help raise more awareness
.

I seriously wish people would stop talking about EastEnders as if it's a charity fund-rasier or something to raise awarness for every issue under the sun.

But yeah anyways, It sounds good and I heard it leads to her getting pregnant aswell.

Sounds pretty interesting, bit better than how EE has been recently, i'm much more into Corrie at the moment, still never miss an episode of either though.

There was a rumoured gang rape storyline, perhaps it happens to her?.
