Yeah, I think that's why Roanoke was so good, it left out most of the clumsy allegory in favour of a good story and good characters. Aside from the framing device of the various TV shows, it was a very back to basics ghost story and it just worked.

I tuned out of Freakshow and Hotel after the first few episodes. I feel like Cult has a far clearer premise and is pretty compelling in certain areas. Like I said, though, it could go to complete **** if it gets taken to planet 9 and Ryan Murphy goes beyond the scope of the story...which will probably happen because it's Ryan Murphy, and I'll no longer defending Cult as an above average season :p

Flicker was the best episode of Hotel but I don't think it really holds a candle to the likes of Orphans.

I feel like they're taking a slow burn approach to Cult, which I don't really mind, as it's been all right so far.

Winter is just Chanel #3 dressed in black.

Yes. Sarah Paulson is playing an actress playing Lily Rabe's character in a re-enactment.

The show gets very meta with show within a show within a show.
