Conversely, she's only had two episodes with any substantial content. The only person who I'd say has worse winning edit than her is maybe Alec, but that's it.

Macie Lightfoot 22-11-2018 02:58 PM

But yeah, over the weekend I rewatched the entire season bc reasons and Kara came off slightly better than I was giving her credit for? I made a post on another forum I'll copy/paste later, but there have been slight undertones about her "social charm" and I think that's part of Her Story. Last night was make or break for her and she had a pretty damn good episode with the Dan boot being told entirely from her perspective for no particular reason since she didn't even control the vote at all.

That was a good episode of the popular U.S. reality television series "Survivor"! And I look forward to next week's episode as, judging by the NTOS, the women will come together, form one giant four-headed entity and, like... eat Carl whole! Bing indeed!

(also I'm so so so bad at doing edgic, but... is there a chance that we got a rare sighting of MORPgelina this week?) (edit: yeah nvm everyone has her as UTR, as if all those veggie burgers died for nothing)

MB. 22-11-2018 03:05 PM

Anyway I'm off to give thanks to Angelina and eat a turkey made entirely of veggie burgers, don't mind me

Carl's edit is more winnery than Alison's? :skull: idk I just feel like the text Alison has come to the fore as a big ~strategist~ at this point really says something. What do u think her edit is?

MB. 22-11-2018 03:38 PM

Personally the fact that they had to re-use the same Kara confessional in about five different contexts gives me a certain amount of optimism as to the... general direction of her story arc

Her edit reminds me of Andrea in Game Changers (Obviously Andrea is superior tho)

MB. 22-11-2018 03:40 PM

If Alison was ultimately crucial to the season's narrative then I feel her pre-merge development would have been more extensive than "doctors are bad! also here's Gabby"

I think her edit is garbage lmao. She didn't any screentime until the swap when Gabby cried to her about the boy's club in episode 6, and then she just had a bunch of empty content tonight about resumes and big moves. There is no storyline, she has the lowest collective visibility out of anyone, and she doesn't have any developed relationships with anyone that are told from her perspective. Carl's certainly not winning either but he at least had a decently strong first few episodes with his relationships with Davie and Jessica and finding the Nullifier, which had to be shown but was still edited in his favor. Alison...... is a doctor who Jeff used to illustrate all the advantages that Goliaths have in life. She ain't winning.

Macie Lightfoot 22-11-2018 04:45 PM

Anyway, here's my obnoxious "Kara is WINNING" post I made on another forum over the weekend...

Quote:

As for contenders...... I kinda hate myself for it but I think I'm on the Kara train now http://i.imgur.com/1u762Wd.gif like she's just BARELY ahead of Christian for me, but I can't shake the feeling that he's our 5th/4th placer fan favorite who was really a robbed goddess and would've won if he wasn't such a big threat. I definitely don't think that Kara's edit is *great* by any means, but rewatching all of the episodes this weekend made me realize that there's like just barely enough of a story being told with her? Right on the boat on the premiere Jeff is talking about how Survivor is about David versus Goliath, the underdog versus the favorite, and then he says the SOCIALLY AWKWARD, with the camera panning to Gabby, versus THE NATURALLY CHARMING, with the camera panning to none other than Kara! And then all throughout the season we see Kara's natural charm pull Dan in even though she thinks he's a ****ing imbecile, we see her immediately work her natural charm with Elizabeth as soon as they swap tribes, and we see her work her natural charm doing damage control after Natalia's boot!

I totally agree that it's a bit of a red flag that she doesn't really talk much about her game or strategy and that her only truly fleshed out relationship is with Dan, but I don't know who has a better edit than her. I had Christian reluctantly as my #1 until this week, but now as it stands I'm at like 50% Kara, 40% Christian, 10% Nick. I also definitely agree that Kara's next episode is pivotal and she needs to have a good one to keep her in it. I'm not too alarmed that she's been a nonfactor for the first two merge episodes bc I'm pretty sure a few other [female] winners have been in that position before, and it definitely helps that she's being shielded yet again from the Goliath's being blindsided, but she can't go three episodes into the merge without any pivotal content. Next week could be make or break for her.

And yes, I am fully aware that this post is borderline on par with maddog's soliloquies about Devon and Rolo's kimbrina.mp4 video, but thisismytruth.gif

He appears for 5 seconds at the end of each episode.

I see your point. I've not considered narratives as such bc like I didn't think every winner had one lol. Like what was Michelle's?

What kind of place/boot do you think Alison's edit suggests?

I'm probs just wishfully thinking as a like ha lol.

Wizard. 22-11-2018 08:24 PM

I feel like there’s no way Allison adapts because she’s gonna be butthurt that the David’s stole her vote so she’s not gonna work with them

Michele's arc was all about how she'd use her natural charm and social skills to win (her playing of Nick, her beauty girls alliance), and considering that's how she won, it's probably one of the more straightforward winning narratives

Compare that to something similar, like Sarah's "playing like a criminal" or Sandra's "as long as it's not me", or something completely dissimilar, like whatever the hell Adam's edit was supposed to be

MB covered it but with Michele you also had her get a solid premiere explaining how she thinks her experience as a bartender will help her social skills in the game, her "Bro, I know!" moment, and just a general sense of how the show kept shoehorning Michele content into a lot of the episodes where it didn't seem necessary. Kinda like how last night was largely a Kara-centric episode about how she needs to set herself free from Dan in order to succeed even though she ultimately had nothing to do with him going home.

As for Alison, she's gonna be 5th place at the very best. I'd put my money on her being an underdeveloped early boot in the final or one of the two boots next week (we get two hours of Survivor everyone x). She won't be in the final four.

Speaking of which, I'm not sure if anyone has seen Ponderosa yet, but while watching the A Special Message from Brochachos, Inc. skit - which, firstly, wow, Ponderosa finally got a budget, and secondly, wow, it got a writing team - I had to at several points remind myself that I wasn't watching a more experimental episode of It's Always Sunny... it was quite the experience

I canīt see past Christian winning, his edit is very strong. Karaīs suggest that she is in the final or close to it, but i donīt see her winning.

Allisonīs edit is not strong enough for her to be a winner. Gabbyīs edit is more crying than anything else. Davie started with a good one, but itīs running out of steam.

Carl: Mixed. Hero or D-bag. You decide.
Nick: Comes of as more of a follower to others.
Mike and Alec: Goliath strong.
Angelina: I played my absolute hardest, but ended up short. Kind of an edit that means that means that they will be seen again on an another season at some point.

JerseyWins 23-11-2018 05:00 AM

I'm almost fully expecting a David to win this season (and I agree Christian probably has one of the best shots out of them). But if it's a Goliath I have to also think Kara has the best shot after last episode? :fc: Does Alec really not have a shot btw? I'm not saying I expect him to win but I'd think he could win more than some others (Carl and some/most of the Goliaths).

Davie maybe has a shot but I don't expect him to win either. I see him as like the Jay/Dr. Mike type of finale boot... and idk if there's actually any edit/edgic correlation besides being the one I would likely be rooting for going in and leaving pretty early in the final episode lol.

I could see Mike being a final 3 contender but even if he does get there it'd probably be as a goat on finale.

JerseyWins 23-11-2018 05:02 AM

What if Angelina won this season? :skull: And is there ANY possibility behind her edit? :joker:

Wizard. 23-11-2018 09:50 AM

Ugh Dan is so hot in Ponderosa

starry 23-11-2018 09:55 AM

Christian's target has just increased further with his idol.

Maybe, but so far only David's know about it.

And more often than not idol bearers have ended up as the winner.

As soon as theme was revealed I thought a David is going to win.
