I’m screaming at this Tony scene :joker:

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 12:25 AM

Kim being perceptive as ever  the Sarah Lacina fashion scene

but this episode kinda sucks though, The Tony Show is a very boring one.

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 12:28 AM

Again, the fact that we have to waste ~10 minutes of this episode watching people exchange in-game currency is everything wrong with Survivor in its current state.

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 12:35 AM

Tony is just stealing the shooooooooooooooow tonight :joker:

TWO STRAIGHT immunity wins!

And that idol in his back pocket :clap1:

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 12:45 AM

Holy **** this is suuuuuuuuuuuch an interesting twist to the end of this episode :skull: Now I'm nervous :worry:

Sophie going would be so good but idk if it can happen

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 12:51 AM

Damn I REALLY feel like it's Jeremy but Sophie would be SOOOO good :worry:

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 12:57 AM

That is a ****ing LEGENDARY boot/move and one of the best episodes I've seen in a long time! :clap1:

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 01:16 AM

God this merge has been ****ing terrible. Entirely lifeless, no forward plot movement, and entirely focused on Idols and Advantages and Fire Tokens.

This episode in particular was just an hour of Tony sucking himself off and the editors sucking him off and it reminded me of why Cagayan's post merge is not good and the season as a whole is really overrated. It was an episode that only focused on Tony for the sake of justifying his inevitable win so that he's seen as ~deserving~ because the show has become some meta-aware that it's more concerned about giving the viewers the winner that they want. I don't know, I just don't see anything interesting about watching someone spend 10 minutes discussing and navigating their game around fictitious in-game currency that doesn't even matter or watching someone come up with the nth variant of the spy habitat. It's basically a lighthearted Russell Hantz, which at the end of the day is still Russell Hantz.

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 02:22 AM

FALSE. This season is picking up since the merge :joker:

me watching an entirely different season from fifteen years ago instead of this one

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 03:07 AM

The Adam episode had its flaws but at least had some humor as well because it was funny to see him humiliate himself, but the merge episode and last week's episode and tonight's episode were all heaping piles of garbage. The show is just collapsing under the weight of too many twists and advantages. The Extortion Advantage tonight was a particularly egregious waste of time. I think that segment was close to 10 minutes and all it told us was "Tony can't vote" and then "jk now he can." That doesn't tell me anything new and is not compelling television.

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 04:08 AM

Last episode is the only one I agree where the editing was so sloppy that it basically wasn't even enjoyable (hard to follow anything at all). But the other episodes have still been chaotic and fun in a way where you can still follow the story. Tonight's episode in particular was incredible but I may be biased about the large amount of Tony content :fan:

@Macie From an "edgic" perspective: (spoiler about winner chances)

Spoiler:

Is Tony the clear favorite to win this? Like does anyone else even have a decent shot?

reece(: 23-04-2020 04:31 AM

I'm ****ing screaming at the spy nest next episode

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 04:40 AM

I still wouldn't say that the storylines have been all that easy to follow because there are still so many plotholes and ideas that get randomly brought up and then randomly pushed aside again. Like, Jeremy and Michele never really had an alliance scene on Sele but they're apparently super tight? And then they're not at the beginning of the merge and now they are again? And somehow Nick and Michele are on different sides now without anything being explained? And Kim randomly has EVERYONE in her back pocket without any explanation or evidence?

The show just can't accurately tell a story as soon as the merge hits because they are tied down with too many necessary segments they have to show. I swear the Extortion Advantage took up 10 minutes between an extended scene of Natalie and Parvati finding it, Tony finding the scroll in his bag, and then having the same conversation with three different people about how he needs a Fire Token from them, and it ultimately ended up being entirely pointless? Like, you could just summarize it in one breath as "Tony lost his vote but then he got it back" but they had to go ahead and waste nearly 25% of the episode on it. That's just dead airtime and doesn't actually tell you anything about what's going on with actual gameplay and the other eight people still in the game. And that doesn't even get into the complete lopsidedness of the edit, where Tony gets eighteen confessionals and Sophie gets one. Editing the entire cast sans Tony as supporting characters tonight is particularly insulting on an all winners season, but that's a different post.

I'm not gonna put edgic discussion in spoilers because it wasn't a spoiler back in Kaoh Rong and it's still not a spoiler now, but yes, Tony is absolutely winning and they made it clear tonight with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The whole point of tonight's episode was to showcase everything from Tony's perspective, back him up at every instance, and watch him ultimately get his intended target out so now the audience can feel that his inevitable win is Deserved.

JerseyWins 23-04-2020 06:24 AM

I do notice how they put alliances together / separated / reunited out of nowhere so often on this season which is definitely a major editing flaw. Still mostly entertaining and mostly reasonable enough to follow the plot though. I think this season could've benefited from 90 minute episodes, damnit CBS :fist:

Captain.Remy 23-04-2020 06:33 AM

It's safe to say that Tony was the star of the episode, if not the season so far. He went from voting with an alliance, finding a hidden immunity in the dark, winning second immunity in a row to control the vote and vote the girl with an idol in her pocket.

Though however the editing is again somehow making no sense. Did I miss the moment Tony stopped feeling aligned with his alliance so he decided to save Jeremy? That came out of nowhere (not that I'm mad at it, but it's missing a puzzle piece)

I'm glad we got to see a little bit of Parvati, I really miss her on the show.
However, I agree with Macie Lightfoot, the show is way too focused on Advantages and Fire Tokens. We just wanna see survivor basics and camp life sometimes.
AND MAKE THE EPISODES GOD DAMN LONGER FFS!

Captain.Remy 23-04-2020 07:15 AM

By the way, 8 of them are left and three episodes to go.

We'll have a Two-Hour episode before the finale so I guess that's when somebody is coming back from EoE, therefore probably meaning a double elimination, leaving 5 of them for the finale (episode 14) on May 13th.

Macie Lightfoot 23-04-2020 09:03 AM

It’s gonna be 8 to 7 next week, 7 to 5 in the double, and then the Edge returnee will make it a six person finale because those always work out so well :)

I hope they at least bring back the person from EoE before the double elimination. If they keep them just for the final episode then it will be so rubbish!

Captain.Remy 23-04-2020 09:34 AM

and lol @ the spy shack in the tree :joker:
Kim will try to make a move but I think it will backfire, it's too obvious from the preview that Tony is in danger, and preview are usually not that reliable. Well, I hope he's not voted off next week.

caprimint 23-04-2020 10:38 AM

- Sarah: "I'm smart, funny and pretty" lol ok :umm2:
- Tony: "My pants would sell faster than your skirt" :joker:
- YAAAAS @ Tony getting those fire tokens then winning immunity :clap1:

Really great episode and enjoyed The Tony Show. The way he pulled off the Sophie blindside as well... amazing :clap1: Probably the best episode since Adam's Show

I agree with this, even the whispering episode before was still pretty entertaining. Last week was ****, but this episode made up for it

if you took that seriously........ girl...

caprimint 23-04-2020 12:18 PM

I mean she sounded pretty serious when she said it?

Americans can't do sarcasm like British can though so who knows

Calderyon 23-04-2020 12:53 PM

Yeah, Tony is winning this season. That edit was too heavy and clear.

Might be too clear, but...
