The weather is so beautiful these days. It's tempting to want to go outside. :(
I'll go tomorrow to do my food shopping.

Crimson Dynamo 25-03-2020 04:03 PM

Managed to get a milkman to deliver milk to my mum. They are rushed off their feet, never seen demand like it

Go Early if you can

My quandary is regards the food situation

We have at least 3 weeks of food to see us through ( the milk and bread will only last a week though) ... anyways it means we can stay in our little safe-house bubble and not venture out shopping in that period ..

Now our daughter things differently .. she reckons we should be getting the weekly shop in as usual for the next couple of weeks but be extra careful when shopping and then bolt the doors when the the situation gets worse / dangerous in two weeks or so time - as the government predicts ??

Any thoughts guys ?

Why not do click and collect, so let the staff do the shopping for you

You do realise a mask doesnt protect you from catching the virus?

There's no proof that masks affect transmission rates at all and theres no benefit in surgical gloves over and above thoroughly washing your hands. In fact in some cases they make matters worse because people think that as they were wearing gloves, they don't have to wash their hands.

Do your normal weekly shops still, plus a little extra.
Then if you can’t get out you are ok for a fortnight.
I have my 2 shops a week booked as normal even though the pantry is still well stocked, not gone over the top stockpiling but we always keep a full pantry in case of emergencies.

Incorrect

There is NO evidence people feel more at ease

So went out food shopping today first time since lockdown...queued for about 45 mins, its a one out, one in system, but once inside shelves were pretty much back to normal, still a few patchy areas but in the main a full shop, it will be a once a week trip for the foreseeable

bots 27-03-2020 12:15 PM

i signed up for ocado home delivery. I then went in a queue at 4:30 am to get on the site that had 260,000 people in front of me. When i finally got on to the site some 3 hours later, it said, sorry, no delivery slots available

Sainsburys are only delivering to those identified as vulnerable now and I think that is the right way forward at this stage

AnnieK 27-03-2020 01:00 PM

Is it only one person per household who can go in the stores?

Hmmm.
Not delivering to all vulnerable or disabled though.
You have to ge on the extreme list. The government have to ok you first.
God help the housebound or people with low immune systems, kidney failure, diabetic, heart failure, or any number of other chronic illnesses.
