I don't think it matters, they were taken away without being read their rights to an unknown location by unmarked cars and agents who didn't identify themselves. That sets a dangerous precedent that you should be concerned more with than whether you think some unconstitutional and downright dictatorial actions is justified.

Is there footage to show they weren't read their rights and weren't told who the people were? For all we know that could have happened in the vehicles or when they were being taken to them. It also depends on what the accused were doing - if they were acting violently or destructively, they obviously need to be removed from the situation.

The footage speaks for itself and even the likes of FOX NEWS called it out for what it was.

It's interesting that you're trying so hard to defend what is a clear cut act of totalitarianism though. All these ifs and buts that are based on nothing. At the end of the day, people have rights and you're trying to defend the utter abuse and disregard of those rights by a president who has frequently shown the world how much of a fascist he is.

I'm not trying to defend anything tbh. I agree it'd be better if the rioters were bunged into a clearly marked police van by cops in clearly visible uniforms. But until we reach the day that people are plucked off the streets for no apparent reason and are never seen again, likening it to fascism is daft. The recently used methods aren't ideal, tis true.

Tom4784 25-08-2020 08:22 PM

They are far from ideal and you know it's bad when even the republicans and Fox News called it out.

What else would you call Trump's secret police loading protesters (Not rioters, protesters) into unmarked vehicles? It's fascism, choosing to be blind to it doesn't make it less so.

The only video I could find was someone in a mask and battle helmet being taken away, are there any more?

Kristi Noem: ‘Hard-working Americans Left to Fend for Themselves -Democrat-run cities

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) castigated Democrats for the recent wave of protests and rioting that have roiled America’s cities on Tuesday, arguing that the party’s leaders have left hard-working “to fend for themselves.”

“It took 244 years to build this great nation — flaws and all — but we stand to lose it in a tiny fraction of that time if we continue down the path taken by the Democrats and their radical supporters,” Noem told the Republican National Convention while delivering a prime-time address.

“From Seattle and Portland to Washington and New York, Democrat-run cities across this country are being overrun by violent mobs. The violence is rampant,” the governor added. “There’s looting, chaos, destruction, and murder. People that can afford to flee have fled. But the people that can’t — good, hard-working Americans — are left to fend for themselves.”

Noem’s remarks came as rioting extended to its third day in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The tumult began on Sunday when local police shot Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old black American man, several times in the back after he resisted arrest, ignored police commands and made a lunge for a deadly weapon in his car.

After the video of the shooting appeared on social media, protests erupted on the streets of Kenosha. Those protests quickly turned violent On Monday, in particular, several businesses were burnt to the ground, including, a local charity.

The situation only intensified on Tuesday with more looting and confrontations occurring across Kenosha. One of those incidents caught national attention when a 17-year-old Illinois resident, Kyle Rittenhouse, killed two individuals and wounded a third with a rifle. Rittenhouse, who had identified himself as a supporter of law enforcement, was arrested on Wednesday for the shootings.

In the wake of such incidents, the Department of Justice announced it is deploying federal resources to Wisconsin to help quell the unrest.

I'd say most americans will feel 'left to fend for themselves' by an increasingly vicious cut of social services that people rely on, something that is championed by the republicans and enforced by Trump.

Crimson Dynamo 27-08-2020 06:27 PM

A bad day for the Dems.
