She must stop giving way to her own side.

She speaks slow

[Energy bills will be capped at a typical £2,500
for households for up to two years
Including other help most people will
see little change from existing bills
There will be a separate package
for businesses, although the details are not yet clear
The policy could cost the government £150billion,

Pumping out Cash
for Business.

Daily Mail Live

[What is Truss proposing
Energy bills will be capped at a typical
£2,500 for households from
October 1 for two years
That includes temporarily
suspending green levies
,
but with £400 handout most people will
see little change from existing
bills this year
The government will pay energy suppliers
the difference between what they
charge consumers and what the
price would have been
Businesses will get 'equivalent' support
for at least six months operated through
the wholesale energy market
The policy could cost the government
£150billion, depending on moves in
gas prices, meaning far more borrowing
Ministers hope the plan will reduce
the headline CPI inflation rate by
between 4 per cent and 5 per cent
Action to enhance longer-term energy
supplies include lifting the ban on fracking,
and issuing more licences for
North Sea oil and gas

Starmer now doing his Reply

Gusto Brunt 08-09-2022 11:07 AM

Interesting to note, Truss slagged off Sunak and yet in this speech she is making now she has bragged about the £400 for energy bills. THAT Sunak put in place.

Hmm, it doesn't look like the poor and low paid are gonna get any more help with rising food prices and eergy.

No surprise.

so not so bad

why should the public pay for it the energy companies are profiteering off a war, if they had any conscience, they would hand it over without being asked, this is 170bn ADDITIONAL profit they have made off a war

blood on their hands

i think they will have to reverse their position on this. Excess profits should be used to pay toward the debt, not the most disadvantaged for the next 20 years

and from what I heard just now the energy companies panicked and locked in at a much higher price so why are we paying for their mis judgement

Yes It's who is in Power

Labour 2 years to have go
to try to get in Power

The Slim Reaper 08-09-2022 01:15 PM

Liz's biggest donor in her leadership election was the former head of BP. Those profits aren't going anywhere.

and she worked for Shell

Labour just need to put it in their manifesto if they can do a retrospective windfall tax and in they go

That's an addition, not a correction. The queen thread needs you more than this one.

bots 08-09-2022 01:42 PM

i think public pressure will sort it out, Liz doesnt want such a bad start to her premiership. Everyone laughed at me when i highlighted it, but liz only had 50 tory mp's backing her at the start of the leadership election. She will get hammered very quickly if mps think public opinion is going against them

Parliament needs to legislate
The new Energy Reduction Price.

This 7 day mourning of the Queen
stops it.

They have to work it out,
and sort it
