I haven’t seen much of him to be fair .. I don’t really notice defenders or holding midfielders that much

Well he's certainly not worth £110m.

Chelsea offered him double the wages we put to his agent this morning so it's obvious the player is money motivated and I'd rather we drop our bid and move on.

Chelsea will now have to bid higher then we bid to sign him and Brighton won't budge on that after being messed about and Chelsea making an Illegal poach to the player

Harry Kane is travelling to Stansted airport now to fly to Germany.

Kane is hoping that this time everything really is all agreed and he will sign for Bayern Munich.

Kane was told at 2.50pm that everything was agreed and he could travel to Munich for a medical.

He set off for Stansted airport minutes later.

Chelsea has always been his preferred choice, long before Liverpool had shown any interested.

Most players are money motivated, look at them all flocking to Saudi now and leaving their morals behind?! Like LGBT ally Jordan Henderson, he didn't give a toss about LGBT rights when the Saudi's offered him a nice few quid.

He’s a young , clueless kid by all accounts.

It looks clear that this deal has been directed by his agent who will be filing his own pockets

"LGBT ally Jordan Henderson"

He never was it was all BS virtue signaling

Prem players dont give a flying F about "lgbt stuff"

i think we need to clarify the bidding process. Chelsea don't need to bid higher than liverpool. The liverpool bid is now null and void because the player doesnt want to go there. If chelsea are above a threshold that brighton find acceptable, then it's up to the player on personal terms.

What about Arsenal and Real Madrid who months ago he did an interview saying it was a dream to play for them when they went sniffing

Brighton have asked us not to withdraw our bid and have made it clear Chelsea would have to better our bid to sign him

but what brighton think doesn't matter, if the player doesn't want to go to liverpool. Its like saying someone had to beat the Saudi bid for Mbappe. Teams can come in with a lower bid if the player wants the move to them instead

Also, if the player has made clear he doesn't really want to play for liverpool, is it really smart to continue trying to sign him?

I thought exactly the same when Man U were chasing de jong last year, and he made it clear he didnt want to go there

Ply’s I don’t think Klopp would want someone who’s publicly disrespected Liverpool

We should keep the bid in to make Chelsea pay more. Chelsea are obviously struggling to reach the amount needed otherwise it would have happened by now. He didn't say he didn't want to play for us, he just said that he wanted Chelsea, which is fair enough as they've done the legwork on him all season, and it's a double the money, but he would be happy to join us if Chelsea wasn't possible.

i do think Liverpool should play hardball with Brighton though. They had a deadline for bids last night, so we should be applying pressure to them to stick to it and make chelsea either put up or shut up.

It's not about what the player wants it's about the way Chelsea have treated Brighton over the last year and Brighton has clearly had enough and will not back down, they want a higher fee from Chelsea and the majority paid upfront but Chelsea can't afford the fee hence why they begged Brighton to take some players and then messed Leeds and Adams about because Brighton had interest.

Brighton actually don't need the money so they can hold on for as long as they need and will clearly not be bullied.

We won't walk away for the simple fact that Chelsea has contacted us to demand us to withdraw out bid

bots 11-08-2023 08:28 PM

chelsea have plenty money. They have done enough deals this window to reduce their ffp worries. I just can't believe any team would commit a record transfer fee to get a player that doesn't want to be there. It doesn't make any logical sense

Treated Brighton? You're having a laugh, we paid way over the odds for the woeful Cucurella, way too much compensation for Potter, and we just paid £25m for Sanchez, a very average goalkeeper. If anything they should give us Caicedo as a thank you.

Brighton are probably pissed off a lot more with Liverpool after you paid peanuts for Mac Allister

The Slim Reaper 11-08-2023 08:38 PM

They've spent nearly £900m (over the last year) if Lavia and MC end up there. No european revenues coming in, I agree they've sold a few but no way is that a sustainable amount to be in line with FFP.

It's not that he doesn't want to be there; he was up for it earlier today, chelsea is just his first choice. Frenkie wanted nothing to do with united last season, and you weren't competing for his signature with anyone other team, so your analogy does not fit.

it is a sign of a club that is fcuked though. We have to stay in until it's done with Chelsea because we're an amateur club that has sat on our hands all summer.

We've got £50m in for 2 players, and saved £44m on wages, and only signed 2 players. That is the real issue - the fact that we're not a serious club.

They really have not though, only academy products give pure profits, everyone else only the profit on what you paid counts which because they sold many at a loss it doesn't count at all plus they are pussing for £1b in the space of 1 year to avoid FFP they would need to make sales at a profit of over £600m

Mac Allister had a clause - we met it. Which is fortunate, because if he didn't have that cheapo clause, he'd also be playing for someone else, too.
