Denver 26-07-2019 09:00 PM

It didnt seem like the final series but I enjoyed it

Denver 26-07-2019 09:00 PM

Spoiler:

loved how they brought pretty much every character back even if it was just for 5 second cameos

Saph 26-07-2019 09:03 PM

I kinda went off this after the riot series.. it became too political and lost the thing that made it special in the early seasons

Dyke sex!!

Saph 26-07-2019 09:04 PM

yeah exactly :joker: it lost humour too

Denver 26-07-2019 09:05 PM

There was a fair bit of Dyke sex this series tbf

Saph 26-07-2019 09:06 PM

the first couple series were so good tbf, they remind me of being in collage and not having a care in the world, just coming home and watching this and AHS on repeat

Denver 26-07-2019 09:08 PM

I think it lost it's way last series after like culling half of the cast

Saph 26-07-2019 09:10 PM

I think i only watched ep 1 of the last series and when they were all getting beaten by the guards it just put me off :umm2:

Saph 26-07-2019 09:11 PM

the riot series was a MESS story-line wise as it was so unrealistic but it was a good series

Cal. 26-07-2019 10:05 PM

Ive seen spoilers for THAT death :(

Ant. 28-07-2019 06:18 PM

I don't know how far along everyone is with this season so I'm gonna spoil my current thoughts and post this from page 1 to avoid going to the last page and possibly getting spoilt before I begin the final episode tonight </3

Spoiler:

I ****ING LOVE ADEOLA

Daddy dying was sad since I enjoyed her in Season 6 but I'm glad she wasn't here this season. Daya stepping up was great :flutter:

The news Maritza was coming back got me SHOOK but then they did her dirty. I hope I see her in the finale, no matter how unlikely :(

I've got to hand it to them, the immigration storyline(s) this season have been poignant. Karla's phone call home brought me to tears, as did the woman who couldn't have an abortion. Nat giving her a pill warmed my heart so much. I've always liked Fig but seeing her character this season has only made me love her more and more <3

Still LMAOing at Love Island's presence in OITNB. Georgia was in 7x12. Queen of loyalty making her impact in 2019 :clap1:

WARDEN WARD :clap1: we stan! I actually didn't see that coming! So glad she got it over Hopper (lmao at Hopper getting caught, that's what you get for disrespecting our Ward <3)

Just yesterday, I thought, "so how did Taystee get put back in prison during Season 1? Thank GOODNESS I didn't Google that like I was supposed to, since I found out in 7x12. Also, the moment the phone rang I KNEW it'd be Poussey </3

I dunno how to feel about Cindy. I understand why she did what she did but I still resent her for it. But damn, what happened with her and her family was rough </3 Taystee doesn't **** about lmao

#MeToo, FGM, both are topics I wouldn't expect to see but I'm glad they tackled them

I don't remember Suzanne ever seeing the Chicken? Yet she recognised it? I think I'm due a series-long rewatch soon

Poor Lorna :(

My heart actually breaks for Red. The way she even mentioned Tricia :(

Tiffany possibly OD'ing? I'll be sad if she's actually died, she's came a long way since the start, and I started to love her after hating her. I sincerely hope she pulls through, it feels like no one's getting a happy ending - but such is life, sadly. I just hope a couple of these characters get some peace at least </3

I've cried numerous times this season and I thought I'd click onto the final episode to see how long it is. I wasn't expecting the theme music to change - I heard the first two seconds and it set me off again </3

I'm really not ready to say goodbye to this series :(

Marsh. 28-07-2019 06:19 PM

Fookin mess at the Love Island cameo.

Nick. 28-07-2019 08:10 PM

Enjoyed the last series, a fitting farewell.

A few of my favourite moments in GIF form, spoilered just in case

Denver 28-07-2019 08:11 PM

Was I the only one crying at the ending?

lewis111 28-07-2019 11:26 PM

Great last season that felt more like the first few seasons but with a hint of the seriousness of the last couple, although I do think it felt more like a second to last season rather than the final ever one.
I did find the last episode disappointing though. I’ve been more intrigued with just about every other season finale of the show than I was with this one
Spoiler:

I know they don’t want to create the idea that everything is perfect and want to be more realistic but I wish they took more risks with the endings for some characters cause most of them just felt fine. Like Taystee never got justice but is having a good time In prison now? Doesn’t feel impactful enough for the most beloved chacater.
Piper and Alex have the same situation they did before but now In Ohio...
Red and Lorna are slowly crumbling but we don’t see the impacts of it or if they get better

I guess I just wanted some more extreme happy or sad endings for some of the main characters since it’s the last ever season

lewis111 28-07-2019 11:29 PM

But overall this is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and I’m so glad the final season managed to highlight why it’s one of the best and most important shows of the decade

Having just finished it, I can confirm yes, I cried at the ending (and still am)

the final frame of the season (before the credits) set me the **** off and I kept crying watching the credits

Series finale thoughts:

Spoiler:

the intro ****ing got to me

Tiffany really died? I understand that it happens - people get clean and when they go back to drugs they can lose their life (this was pretty much foreshadowed explicitly which makes it feel like it was rubbed in my face :( ) but it just felt nearly pointless to kill her off? Suzanne was already growing as a person and while Doggett's death did emphasise her growth, did it really need to? And Taystee would've still been motivated by seeing Tiff passed even when she was alive, surely?

I'm very confused about Nat's pregnancy? Was she actually pregnant? Did she lie to get pills to help the pregnant woman in ICE? Did she abort and then use extra pills to help the woman? Because we see her and Joe adopting? I really thought I paid attention :(

So on the bright side, Gloria got out and is reunited with her kids  and Blanca got justice. It's just a shame Maritza and Karla didn't get happy endings, but neither did hundreds of women in that building.

I appreciate that we got to see what the Ohio crew are up to. Norma, Gina, Yoga Jones, Boo, Brooke  and uh, Angie and Leanne too I guess. I know it'd be unnecessary but I would love to see a mini-series documenting what the prisoners in Ohio got up to. The past two seasons (this one especially) stood their ground without them but I really missed them!

Felt very fitting one of the last scenes included Yoga Jones doing the whole "think of your life as a mandala" speech

The negatives? I'm still processing it all.
For one, I don't like that Warden Ward was fired and ****ing Hellman replaced her. I know this happens in real life, and life's not fair, but it felt sort of, out of place? Regardless, prison is no cake walk, but I'd like to imagine Tamika was making life a little bit better for the inmates. Could they have not gave us that over the blackmailing scum that is Hellman ruling the place? (Again, all too common in real life, but still. It just feels like they're saying "these women will continue to be tortured!" and it just opens up more stories that'll never be told, imo. But then again, there is always gonna be story)

Daya and Aleida... that conflict could never truly be resolved and I guess I'm okay with Aleida putting Daya in her place and that be it for their story. What else could've been done? Them working together?

I just sincerely hope Red can rely on Lorna and Nicky :(

What did Caputo do next in his life following his resignation?

So did... Piper just move to Ohio to be closer to Alex? Or is she just taking road trips every week?

I completely understand (and pretty much agree) with how toxic 'Vauseman' is/can be, but I am glad they stayed together in the end. Which is weird, because I liked Zelda and Piper together

Yeah that little part with Poussey at the end? Set me off in ****ing tears. The riot mainly started from Poussey's death and wanting justice and regardless of whether it was achieved, in the end, her death had impact and her name will be remembered </3

Oh I completely agree - ESPECIALLY with the Lorna and Red part. We did already see how it all affects Nicky but at best Red's dementia sorta became light, almost played for jokes, with Freida saying "I'll wait til you lose it again" (wtte) :umm2: I do understand that Red only really had Lorna and Nicky so only those two take the impact but I would've liked to have seen her dementia explored more? I don't expect all issues in this show to be turned into something 'positive' (for lack of a better word) but I'd like to think that it'd have been great for Nicky to return the favour to Red like she wanted to by using her story as an example of how cruel the system can be. Hypothetically, she could've been fine if she wasn't locked away :(

They really did Taystee dirty. I'm so happy she's making a difference and using her time to help others - all very in character for Taystee. And again, there's people out their who have similar stories. But I felt like if anyone deserved a happy ending, it's her. Maybe the last time we see her she's got a letter saying they've got evidence or whatever for her case? Dunno how that'd work and maybe it was more appropriate to show her with a sense of purpose rather than end it with her having a possible chance of freedom, but yeah, with so many people being done wrong this season/series it would've been nice for Taystee to be among the few with a happy ending. Ah well :(

But yeah while I can certainly handle saying goodbye overall, I was just left wanting more. I know some of these women have years left and some trauma they can never get over (for example, Lorna. Although I would've liked to have seen her make some peace with it while also mourning her child </3) so it's not realistic to wrap up their stories like "yeah they're fine now and will be for the rest of their sentence!" but... yeah lmao
