How anyone can insist on Homer Simpson being the head of the family just-because he’s a man, in spite of his notorious stupidity and incompetence. And the fact that it’s even Marge who pays the bills. People really like to stretch gendered roles to the most absurd situations. That’s like arguing that Peter Griffin is a worthy head of family. Both of them are patently too dumb to survive without their wives, and neither pay the bills (it’s either Marge or Louis’ dad).

The fact that these two characters seem to be the protagonists of their respective shows is arguably a little misogynistic, too.

They're the protagonists of both shows because both shows are comedies where the object of the game is to squeeze as many laughs as possible into a half-hour of programming. And so the father figure is a figure of mockery who provides the greatest outlet for those laughs and the kind of buffoonish humour that both shows are trying to portray. If the wives were the protagonists and greater relied upon as figures of mockery, and the husbands instead occupied the role of the put upon straight man who sighs and rolls his eyes at the ridiculous antics of his silly wife, then audiences of today would also probably use that as an excuse to call the shows misogynistic, no? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If I too myself too seriously and didn't enjoy the antics of Homer Simpson so much, I'd argue that it's actually misandrist, if anything.

I accept this point.

The makeup department over at EastEnders messing up Sharon’s wigs so horrendously for so long. Some of the stuff they’ve had her in has been truly diabolical.

She’s been fine on that front this week but come Monday now she might be back to wearing another monstrosity on her head. Who’s been doing her dirty for so long?

They're the leads because the Comedy in both Shows centers around their stupidity.

I like Lois in Family Guy, but the jokes would be a lot flatter if she were the lead.

The disparity in quality of EastEnders and Corrie in ’05. Janice or Cilla having nits/head-lice is the story of the day the day KimSam digs up Dirty Den’s corpse. Gillian Wright makes her second lot of appearances in EastEnders as Stacey’s mentally troubled mum during that fantastic week of episodes also centred on Frank/Pat/Janine and Chrissie/Jake but also appears in Corrie in that same 2005 for some random storyline where her husband’s cheating on her with Liz, thinking it’s Bev initially. What a mess.

A lot of Taylor's early music was good. I go back to December...come that's like a warm blanket. It's popular to hate on her now but I do admit she seems stuck up lol. And that Blake yuk

I know everyone’s timeline’s different but I’ve never understood people who propose in such a hurry. Schuey Weever, what you doing? You’ve known Agnes every bit of 3 days.

Again, the way Marge Simpson’s voice has gotten progressively croaky as the show’s gone on. I can’t imagine the amount of strain that causes the actress’ vocal cords. You can almost hear it at this point.

I thought I was husky, but nothing like that. Marge really takes the biscuit there. Despite being the one sister of that Patty-Selma-Marge trio who actually doesn’t smoke. But then-again, maybe the actress does.

Why everything has to have a subscription service nowadays?

Even some baby Cribs have a subscription service attached to them which is crazy to me.:umm2:

And to prove that I'm not lying go to the 10:59 mark to see what I mean.

I know Emmerdale went through a bit of a good patch from 2004-06 but I just can’t get with Classic Emmerdale. I find it extremely boring. Nothing before 2010 catches me.

The fact that more people don’t get on this bad boy when it comes to truly understanding the schizoid personality and their inner life (there are better resources of information out there for cyclothymia, though). Instead of delving into how the polished aristocrat can become the brutal despot under too much tension, it’s all about “flattened affect”, “cluster A” and to what extent they avoid social interaction. This book will teach you a trillion and one times more about the schizoid personality and its richness than anything in the DSM could. Call it philosophical psychiatry, tragic pathos meets psychology, Dostoevsky-leaning (as-opposed to Freud) groundwork for a psychoanalytical novel. Whatever. But what it isn’t is a generic checklist. And more people should read it.
