The entire purpose of the Royal Family's existence as a modern entity is tourism and spectacle... their entire continuation rests solely on public interest. That comes with the downside of this negative press attention alongside the positive. If they're not up for playing that game they can step away... they can dismantle the active monarchy... and then I will wholeheartedly agree that if they want their privacy they're entitled to it.

Until then they have a pact with the devil and this is part of it.

The same was always true with Diana. It was the press that made her, and indeed gave her a voice when she was rebelling against the royal family. You can't have your cake and eat it. The same applies with Harry and Meghan.

The difference these days is social media. There are no gentlemen's agreements with social media, there are no lines that can't be crossed. You can't be in the public eye and expect no negative opinions these days. It's a simple reality

If Kate had seen that picture once in her life before it appeared in the papers, I'll eat every single royal hat she owns.

I personally suspect that with a bit of time passing after leaving, Harry has actually realised that the problem was always the toxic Royal Firm more than the press.

Obviously, the press is a heaving sack of crap but the root of the problem was the Royal Family's interpersonal cluster****, not the stories about it.

As is the case still in 2024.

I suspect in the unphotoshop version she actually looks quite healthy. Because whichever body stand-in they photoshopped her face onto probably hasn't had surgery.

There a difference between photoshopping and creating a whole fake image. This is not Kate’s work this is a professional job that they thought could fool us.

It's a wider discussion point. Photos and videos can no longer be trusted, so what can be trusted? The AP and others, provide a valuable service alerting when things have been manipulated. There can't be one rule for people out to create mischief and another for someone trying to present an enhanced public image. It may seem uncaring when the subject is recovering from a serious health issue, but the intentions were still to hoodwink the public. They didn't need to publish a photo, it was their choice to do so. I do believe it should be a lesson learned exercise and everyone should now move on rather than continue to pile pressure on someone recovering from illness

If it was just one time you'd think just incompetent PR but there are not at least three dodgy photos floating around... it's certainly getting very weird and there are quite clearly some pretty major issues that they for whatever reason don't want out in the public.

At the very least, people have to admit that it's odd that this was supposedly a planned surgical procedure, but she's had to cancel a number of public engagements for it. Doesn't sound all that planned? At least not much in advance.

And also... there aren't any actual verified photographs of Kate, anywhere, for several weeks BEFORE the surgery.
