Andrew Sachs will leave Coronation Street when his character Ramsay Clegg is killed off with a heart attack, it has emerged.
According to The Sun, Ramsay will collapse and die while boarding a plane back to Australia after breaking Emily's heart. A source said: "Andrew's character was only meant to be temporary but his departure will be dramatic." Emily, played by Eileen Derbyshire, will then plead for Ramsay to be buried in Weatherfield. Sachs previously revealed that he had signed up for the show for an initial three-month period, though Coronation Street bosses had an option on a further three months. Digi Spy |

[spoil]CORRIE'S Reece Dinsdale is quitting the Street - despite being offered a massive pay rise to stay.
Stunned soap bosses wanted to up his £100,000-a-year salary by a THIRD so he'd carry on playing Gail Platt's pill-popping lover Joe McIntyre. But Reece, 49, is turning his back on Weatherfield beacuse he's scared of being typecast. His character will be killed off next year when he takes an accidental overdose of painkillers. Last night a Corrie source said: "Reece has been a massive hit and top brass thought they could strike a long-term deal. He was offered a massive pay rise but he turned it down. "Executives were surprised. They wanted him to but he's wriggled off the hook." Viewers have already seen kitchen fitter Joe get hooked on painkillers to cope with a back injury, and he'll soon go to drug dealers to feed his habit, turning on unlucky-in-love partner Gail. Reece - who was in hit sitcom Home To Roost with John Thaw - joined Corrie in April 2008, saying talented actress Michelle Keegan, who plays his onscreen daughter Tina, was the reason. A Coronation Street spokesman said: "We wish Reece all the best." Dail Star[/spoil] |
I never liked the character anyway.

I did, he is a misunderstood character, plus he doesnt give [spoil]David[/spoil] an easy time

good storyline, a proper real life happening, loads more people get addicted to pharmaceutical drugs than you'd think
|
Aye, people think overdose and usually think of Class A drugs, but they dont think of prescription drugs that way
|

DEIRDRE Barlow is to be made redundant as the Street gets hit by the credit crunch.
Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride, 55) is devastated when she’s axed from her town hall job. She tells best friend Liz McDonald (Bev Callard, 52): “I’m nearly 55. Who’s going to employ me at my age? I’ll be lucky if I get a job on the tills at Freshco’s supermarket.” She’s not the only Corrie character to be hit by the global financial crisis. Joiner Bill Webster (Peter Armitage, 61) is forced to re-invent himself as “Bob the Builder” in a bid to target new customers. His pal Pam Hobsworth (Kate Anthony, 49) tells him: “Everyone’s heard of Bob the Builder and Bill the Builder is even better.” Butcher Graeme Proctor (Craig Gazey, 23) also loses his job. An insider said: “Corrie tries to reflect real life and there isn’t a street in Britain which hasn’t been hit by the credit crunch.” Daily Star |
