David! You need to crush them zeta scum!

30stone 14-08-2009 11:56 AM

You need to remember with out ronaldo rooney will be playing up front every game s will be challenging top scorer.

Anelka will if he is played the same,
Torress will if he stays fit and liverpool can give him the balls he needs
Arshavin or possibly Eduardo could depending on injuries and whole team performance..

30stone 14-08-2009 11:57 AM

Ohh and Carew isnt ****.
I rate him quite highly.

Arsenal and Tottenham appear Toulouse out on Andre-Pierre Gignac as France striker signs new contract extension

Andre-Pierre Gignac, the France striker who has received interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Toulouse, tying him to the Ligue 1 club until 2013.

Gignac was the top scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 24 goals, and netted his country's winner in their 1-0 victory over the Faroe Islands in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

He Would have been great at Arsenal but we didnt put a bid in... as usuall.

30stone 14-08-2009 12:14 PM

Arsene Wenger has stated that in 6 years Arsenal will become a superpower team again, because that is when they will have much more money then, Im unsure weather he will be a manger still at the time though sadly.

King Gizzard 14-08-2009 12:25 PM

He will be unless he finally gives in to R.Madrid

30stone 14-08-2009 12:41 PM

Arsenal have scored more points against everton than any other premiership team.

Im guessing thats just because both have been in top flight for the longest...

We have a good record against them, Before last season. The 2 times in the season before we won 4 - 1.

King Gizzard 14-08-2009 12:42 PM

I loved the 3-2 last minute Ash Young vs Everton last year :spin:

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has admitted he would love to retain striker Tuncay but expects him to move on before the end of the month.

Tuncay, 27, is available for Saturday's trip to Swansea but Southgate fears it could be one of the final appearances for the Turkey forward in a Boro shirt.

"We haven't had any bids for him but while we have him, I want to make the best use of him," he told BBC Tees.

"Unfortunately we don't expect to have Tuncay beyond the end of this month."

The striker has become a huge favourite with supporters after a free-transfer switch from Turkish club Fenerbahce in June 2007, making 67 league appearances and scoring 15 goals.

One player who has been linked with a concrete move away from the Riverside is striker Afonso Alves, and Southgate remains hopeful of a breakthrough in the deal.

Alves, 28, became Boro's record signing when he joined from Dutch side Heerenveen for £12m in January 2008, but has struggled to make an impact.

"We agreed a fee with a club in Qatar and his representatives are talking to another club at the moment but we haven't agreed a fee with that club," Southgate told BBC Tees.

"We're expecting that things may move on in the next few days.

"I expect there to be movement and when players go out I'd like to strengthen what we have, but it's quite frustrating at the moment."

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is hopeful of signing Damien Duff after offering Newcastle £4m to buy the winger.

Republic of Ireland international Duff, 30, has been at St James' Park since joining from Chelsea for £5m in 2006.

"The clubs are talking and I hope the deal goes through," Hodgson said. "He is a player that interests us."

Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, 36, has signed a new one-year contract extension with Fulham to keep him at the club until 2011.

Duff, who grabbed Newcastle's equaliser in their opening-day draw with West Brom last week, has scored six goals in 86 games for the Magpies.

He spent three years in west London with Chelsea between 2003 and 2006 after making his name at Blackburn.

Duff worked under Hodgson as a teenager at Ewood Park and, according to the Cottagers boss, is keen to return to the capital.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed what many fans have always suspected - his view of controversial incidents is not always obstructed.

Wenger is notorious for claiming not to have seen certain incidents, often when one of his players is accused of committing a foul.

"At times I saw it, and I said I didn't to protect the player," said the 59-year-old Frenchman.

"It's because I could not find any rational explanation to defend him."

Wenger's reaction to post-match questioning over incidents when his players may have been in the wrong usually brings a wry smile to the face of fans and his admission will come as little surprise.

But he insists he does it for the good of his players and provides them with the benefit of the doubt.

Tuncay is a good player - with a better squad I can see him flourishing.
