ok this is what i don't like about the show:

- ryan murphy is involved
- too much singing, idc how good the songs are, i don't want them sung by poor singers :idc: save it for glee, murphy :fist:
- the camerawork is really distracting and cheesy and quick and annoying, like the scene where jimmy/strongman were fighting and it kept switching to their faces
- too many periphery 'freak' characters, there's no chance we're going to be given chance to know all of them; hence, me not giving a flying toss about that weird Meep thing
- also the story's a bit higgledypiggledy... like dandy just decides to take up kidnapping/murder? twisty doesn't just kill him? jimmy didn't think to make sure strongman wasn't looking when he planted the evidence? it's all quite silly.

i'll keep watching but idk this is why i stopped watching murder house

Yeah, I found it difficult to understand why the clown decided not to kill Dandy and his mother.

Are his killings supposed to be random or is he targeting specific people?

Firewire 17-10-2014 02:59 PM

Is it just me who is annoyed by the use of Life on Mars/Criminal considering it's supposed to be the 50s?

Saph 17-10-2014 03:06 PM

it annoys me too

agree and it's messy that he's a reimagining of Norman Bates

just because you don't understand it now doesn't mean that it makes no sense, we are only 2 eps in. did you ever consider that maybe there is a plot line between dandy and the clown that hasn't been exposed yet? for all you know it could be his father.

This isn't the real world. It's a completely different universe.

Spoiler:

..yeah I was thinking that there was a storyline that was going to connect them and that would also tie in with Dandy wanting to be a 'freak' and that maybe in some way he is but doesn't know it..also why did Twisty not kill the children and why in a way does he 'care' for them by bringing them toys..I think there is a storyline to be revealed that will connect all of those things and it's why he became a 'clown' ...maybe it will be part of a final twist...

Donovan. 20-10-2014 04:33 AM

I just took Dandy and Twisty's 'friendship' (?) as Dandy being a sever case of good boy gone bad. The last two episodes set Dandy as a spoiled sheltered kid, always mentioning how bored he was in his mom's house. That's why he wanted to run away to the circus and later just ended up liking the excitement of being around a murderer. He liked that he was doing something different, something bad.

Maybe there's something more to it, but I think it's just part of Murphy's hyperbolic style. Everything's exaggerated, but it's definitely inspired. Ya know that theory about preacher's daughters being the wildest ones. I kind of just think it's a twist on that kind of idea.

..like if you could have anything in the world, which is what Gloria gives him..it would all become incredibly non exiting ..so he would have to explore 'evil' for a thrill..?..

Donovan. 20-10-2014 04:42 AM

Yeah basically. That's what I thought was propelling him.

Actually, that's exactly it, and so much simpler than I put it

..yeah it could be, that everything materialistic bores him because there is nothing that he can't have..I can see with that his longing to be a 'freak' because he idolises them..that they are different and he feels ordinary, this is something he can't have because money can't buy it... and Twisty is the ultimate freak so attaching himself to him and becoming part of his evil is probably more exciting than anything in his life..I think why I thought there may be some connection/some twist to be revealed is what the reason though why Twisty didn't kill him or Gloria...what makes them 'so special' to him...

Donovan. 20-10-2014 04:58 AM

Yeah I don't get Twisty's killing pattern either. Hopefully his M.O. will get explained. I remember reading somewhere that the reason Twisty's kidnapped the boy and the girl will be explained, but I don't know if they'll explain why them specifically or just why he needs to kidnap people.

Spoiler:

..I'm guessing..(but it's just an initial thing so I'm probably wrong....)..that someone did something to him as a child, he had an horrific experience and it could have involved a clown but it's what caused his disfigurements and so that he became someone that people couldn't physically look at because of how he looked...maybe it even involved his own mother, which is why he atm is fascinated with Dandy and Gloria and hasn't yet killed them...and it's also why he's 'protective' of children because in his damaged head, he's 'keeping them safe' and protecting them from adults in a way that he wasn't protected...I think that maybe there is 'sense' to who the people are that he kills or what they represent/associate to him and that will be revealed..and maybe atm, Dandy and Gloria for some reason associate with a 'good memory' or one he himself would have liked to have had...like for us, we think of Gloria and Dandy's relationship and world fairly screwed up but for him, it's a 'perfection/an ideal'..?...this is all totally rubbish of course.....was a very good second episode I thought though...

Ammi 20-10-2014 05:15 AM

Spoiler:

..also Donovan..I think they both want to be each other..Dandy wants to be Twisty and a 'freak' because to him, his life lacks 'different' and unique and Twisty wants to be Dandy because to him, Dandy's life represents 'mothers love'...so will somehow they become each other..hmmmmm....(yeah, I have a weird imagination..)...

Smithy 20-10-2014 07:47 AM

I think the people twisty killed are targeted, hopefully it'll be explained, I think the reason he hates the freak show is because he wanted in but was rejected and that's why he and dandy have kind of bonded

Yes, I'm quite aware. But we only have 2 episodes so far for us to discuss don't we? Hence why I ended my post with a question and not a statement of fact.
