Never could figure out what a 'Chav' really really meant or is there some other subtle meaning behind the word and i am just missing the point?
|
I dont think there is a need to swear or bully if you can get your point across in a reasonable way.... I would pay much more respect to someone who dicussed a veiw without bringing it down to a slanging match

Naive people are not respected either. They are a nuisance and looked upon with disdane. Especially where they try and apply 'utopian politics' to real simple everyday life and in a 'free environment' , discussing sensitive topics, where at least minimal deviance is nothing new.
A few words, on how speech determines someones 'quality'. No one is trying to excuse swearing. Who was bullying? I know I wasn't. This idea that just because someone swears or exchanges insults, they are 'this and that', is naive, because the people who I see acting all sophisticated and 'quiet and mature' are the same people who slag people off behind their backs, when they are ready. They know how to act and they know how to protect their image. Or even if they do not insult or swear, these same people will sit back and laugh, if the negative attention, swearing and insults is directed at someone they hate. I see these same people who supposedly have 'clean mouths' going about ruining people in their own way. They have different 'strategies' . A little rumour here. A little gossip there. It does not take much. Dropping hints here and there to make people turn against others or treat them like an out cast or badlly, or look down on them. Words are nothing. It is who is saying them. Especially if they are someone who professes to being nice. These people often put nasty ideas into people's heads and then others end up doing their dirty work for them and they still have a nice image. Are still a nice person. People really do have to get real. The words people use do not determine their character, as in the 20th and 20th century, even within the last decade, rapid paces of change have taken place and many things have taken on different , ambiguous or varied meanings altogether. swearing is nothing. Mundane. Banalised. A mere smack on the wrist. There are people who manipulate this idea that if you do not say certain words you are a good, deecent, civilised, mature or just simply 'better person' than someone who does. They manipulate it by acting a certain way and not using certain words, to carve a perfect image...but on the inside? You don't even want to know what they are capable of and what these peopl do around like minded people, with whom they can 'get away' with doing/saying bad things. Trust me, the worst people keep it on the inside because they have something to hide. They are more wary and guarded as they know that if people knew the real them, they would be seen in a totally different light and people would not like them. The conclusion? Words are nothing. Don't make such a fuss. Life isn't always going to be 'rosy'. and 'picture perfect'. If it gets too hot , leave the kitchen, because people are not always goign to act the way you want. There are things I don't like and have to put up with. It is life. Personalities clash. No 2 people are the same. |
I'll put this here, it's not in response to the previous message.
I don't know where to start with this. Of the other TiBB admin, Mark has been unable to get online much recently and Kaz has been on holiday. Amy has not been online as often. So I'm essentially moderating this board on my own. It's taking me long enough to read the posts, never mind deal with them. People are blatently ignoring the rule not to insult other members. If you don't have this rule it just becomes a free-for-all which can lead to anarchy. There are assumptions being made about forum members characters which never happen as result of which Big Brother housemates they like and dislike - this should never happen It's all getting out of hand. |
hmmmmmmmm...
seems to me you should maybe sort through the worst offenders James and maybe have a short term ban...? *im not trying to stir trouble here, just helping out* |

I shall close this thread now and hope that we can, from today, move on from posts that cause offence, argue or upset fellow forum members |
