James 26-07-2005 06:11 PM

There's too many posts in this thread expressing an opinion on other forum members instead of the Big Brother housemates or events in the house.

Fangz 26-07-2005 06:14 PM

Sorry, James, it wasn't supposed to turn out like this!

CharlotteSometimes 26-07-2005 06:15 PM

My apologies. Point taken.

P.S. To follow on from your 'logical' babble. Why hasn't there been any press reports about Makosi's 'fro? Or what was the 'fro?
I don't think I can answer that without getting myself in trouble. The short answer would be yes, but I'll let you imagine my reservations that come with it.

I really don't know, as I tend to read newspapers whilst shopping in Tescos, rather than buy them. As long as I don't do the crosswords, they don't seem to mind too much.

Wherever there's meat there's Bisto.

EDIT: Why has my post grown an 'I' in your quote?

Sunny_01 26-07-2005 06:40 PM

Can I remind people to get back on topic please or this thread will have to be locked

Craig is hardly going to go after some old bloke in a nightclub is he, people who usually frequent the type of nightclubs that Craig goes to would be of his own age. I am stating facts about the man that Kemal met and that is he was older, I don't need more weight added to my viewpoint because I am just stating the facts. Kemal is setting a bad example to impressionable young people that watch the show and who think it is right to go on internet chatrooms and then to arrange to meet these people, it's not safe and it is not the right message to send out.

What you seem to be forgetting about these so called 'casual encounters' is that Craig is an ADULT whilst Kemal was still only 16, I don't care what arguement you put across what Kemal did was foolish and very dangerous. The other housemates partners do not even come into it as far I am concerned because whilst they might be having one night stands with people they barely know they are adults and the intention is clear but in Kemal's case it was not.

It is totally ignorant to suggest that the risk is the same in all cases.
Not true. I live fairly close to Garlands in Liverpool, which is one of the most popular gay clubs in England. It's won club of the year in Mixmag a few times, too. I've been there many times, and can confirm that there are plenty of people that go there that are quite a bit older than Craig. So, to follow your point through to its logical conclusion, why haven't there been any press reports about Dolcis selling out of size 8 stilettos and there being a surprising shortage in the availability of extra-long saris? If teenagers are watching BB, then their parents should be monitoring their viewing a little more closely. That's the whole point in having a watershed in the first place, and the reason why every late night BB show starts with a warning about language and nudity.

What you seem to be forgetting is that, whether his account was fantasy or not, Kemal said quite distinctly that he deliberately set out to make contact with someone with the sole intention of having just such an encounter. He wasn't 'groomed' or 'coerced' into anything. If you really think that a teenager that's sexually confused is going to listen to what Kemal said, and then think 'I'd really like to orally satisfy a man at three-o-clock in the morning, inside a skip', then email me your address - you've won this month's luxury hamper (I've already eaten the Edinburgh shortbread and Ye Olde Oak hotdog sausages though, I'm afraid).

Okay, whatever. You take the high road and I'll take the low road ... but I'll look better in a kilt than you.

Bone, meat, stripped of - rearrange to suit.
Jeez after reading all of that garbage I just about got what you're trying to say.

So what if the people that frequent this certain gayclub in Liverpool are also older men but that does not mean that Craig is going to go out with them, you seem intent on trying to justify the actions of Kemal and make comparisons with the other housemates sexual experiences but that is not really the issue here.

Kemal may well influence people he may not but the main thing is people of a certain age perhaps confused about their sexuality are easily led and he is sending out a dangerous message, teenagers may not even watch Big Brother with their parents, you do not know the thoughts of a young person confused by their sexuality and neither do I fully but people are easily influenced and it's not the way that Kemal graphically described his experience but the way that he courted it through the means of a internet chatroom.

You have turned a sensible debate about a sensitive situation into a mockery and you're ignorant stance on this imo is rather silly.

You're welcome to your opinion. Even if it is poppycock.

It might be poppycock in you're opinion but going by what most of the people have said in this thread they agree with me, you just cannot admit when you're in the wrong and always want to have the last word. I have read nothing from you to change my views or actually managed to disprove my arguement.

CharlotteSometimes 26-07-2005 08:16 PM

Yeah, that was a little harsh on my part. But fortunately, we have a population of 60 million, and what, about 4 million of them watch the show? So excuse me if I don't take a straw poll as conclusive. You don't even know me, so that's rather speculative, don't you think? And I think that's already been said by another member. That's a real shame. I shall have trouble getting to sleep tonight now.
