If we had a MOWO (what ever that is?) and black people were banned from entering, then fine. You have a point. But if we did have a MOWO and a black band won the best newcomer with "Greensleves and other hits of Henry VIII" would you be ok with that?

Not saying anything about people being banned from either, because theyre not, its just the whole idea of the awards..
It just doesnt take away from the fact that they can be seen as racist yet its a widely accepted awards ceremony, yet if a MOWO was introduced, the moment it would be announced it would be shot down faster than you could click your fingers. |

It would be shot down by racists. Not normal minded people who really couldn't give a **** about the colour of peoples skin, let alone the origin of the music.
Are you upset that they have a "racist" award or that you can't have one to? |

arnt the mobo awards a bit racist?
should there not be a mowo awards? |
This is like people complaining about black pride. Or gay pride. Things like this were set up because blacks were unfairly oppressed for thousands of years, along with a lot of there rich culture and art not being recognised. Now we are celebrating it. Which is great.
We dont NEED mowo awards. White music has and always has been everywhere, in every style, and was always given fair airing and freedom. Black music was not. Now grow up and move on with your proud, white lives, crackas. |
That song that Mr Hudson started off with, utter utter shite.
Good job he ended it after less than a minute to sing Supernova, cracking tune. |
The MOBO's are ****

I just wish entertainers would give it as much respect, as they give the BET awards, which is the american version of the MOBO basically. Its a shame that most stars, dont show up to it. At least the past couple of years. I watched some of it, and it was quite boring. |

thats true, and anyway i dont watch these awards anyyway its all r&b crap |
"The MOBO's are s***"
****, yes. Racist, no. What is MOWO anyway? Clasical, country, folk? |
I have a problem with the title of the awards show because it strikes me as a kinda contradiction in terms, especially since the black community have struggled so long for racial equality in society. By proclaiming it as a an award show of black origin, doesn't it define you as a colour when at this stage we should all be beyond that? It's the black part that I can't get around to be honest with you.
|
So you can't get your head round a show that is about music of black origin being called music of black origin?
|
It's the emphasis on the word black that I find a bit offputting yes, as it could reinforce differences between people of varying skin tone when the whole principle of equality among races is to bring an end to defining each other by their colour. I have no problem with taking pride in ethnicity, but I would think that there's a better way to highlight it.

british black musioc is crap:joker:
|
God forbid anyone uses the word black in case anyone gets offended. I think they should rename it the Music of those people, you know, them, the darker ones, you know, like Lenny Henry origin. The MOTPYKTTDOYKLLHO's It has a kind of ring to it.
|
No need to be flippant about it. And it has nothing to do about the possibility that it could offend. That's not what I'm suggesting.
