Last night more than 12million fans watched as 34-year-old Jamie belted out Primal Scream on the rock-themed week. But the show-stopping performance masked the star's pain over his dad's illness. William Archer - who split from Jamie's mum Jeanne in 1980 - is being treated in London for renal failure. The 70-year-old rice farmer moved to his native Guyana in South America after his divorce - but flew back to the UK earlier this year for treatment. Jamie, from Putney, South West London, has been allowed to leave the X Factor house in Golders Green, North London, to visit his dad and keeps in regular phone contact with him. A source said: "William is very poorly but he's being monitored closely. His kidneys are being supported by medication but because they are not working properly on their own, they are putting pressure on his organs. "Everyone is hoping for the best and Jamie is praying he will come through this. He's very close to his dad, and William is incredibly proud of his son.
