Yep, i'd agree there Judas. Although Snooker delivers a spectacle of Skill to viewers, once you know what can be expected of a top Snooker player, the attraction faids. Excitement is squeezed into a few moments at the end of a close game, or when safety shots are at there best.

If you contrast the Atmoshere of a Darts game to a Snooker game, there is the problem

Cricket developed 1 day 50 over's cricket for this very reason, and Chess developed Speed Chess also. Hard to say how Snooker could evolve a faster, more exiting version of itself. But i would love to see it.

Pool >>>>>> Snooker

Is tiddlywinks a sport or pastime? Is golf a sport or pastime? Is texas holdem as sport or pastime?

Not everybody can just do these things and even those who do have to practice 70 hours a week to be really good at it.

Is it a physical ability - snooker is certainly not. Is golf? emmmm? Is high jump a physical ability or ability to use a different stick than golfers or snooker players?

Answer my questions

No, it's a game.

My definition of sport is an activity that requires physical prowess.

People who play darts, snooker and golf do not look like athletes. Indeed, many top ranked players look unfit and/or old. They are more about skill and precision than physical ability.

And none of these activities are in the Olympics.

Is driving a car a sport? Fat beggars drive rally cars really fast, F1 drivers have to keep the weight down and really fit as ounces cost 0.01 seconds. Your definition seems to fail in my head - where is the cut-off between rally and F1?

And is skill and precision not merit enough to consider something a sport when it's pro ranking tournaments are watched by millions on sports channels?
