LOL @ People continuing to quote figures.

The topic title asks what has Robbie contributed to music. If the high points of his career were penned by Guy Chambers, then it's Guy Chambers who has contrinuted to the industry.

What has Robbie contributed save for an average voice and a smattering of mental breakdowns?

Exactly!!! I don't care how many Number 1 albums he had, as it's been proven many times, you don't need much talent to sell records.

Arneldo 14-02-2010 10:39 PM

He has contributed great entertainment to millions upon millions of people not only in Britain, but around the world. He has recorded many great memorable and successful songs.

Again, that's a popularity thing. The Cheeky Girls had fans, too. They still contributed nought to the industry.

Yeah, he has recorded many great and memorable songs other people have written for him in an average voice.

Again, the topic title is what he has contributed to music. Is he iconic? Sure. Popular? Definately. An entertainer? No question.

Has he contributed anything to the music industry? Hell no.

Some artists have created genres. Some have redefined them. Some have contributed classic songs and albums they wrote. Some contribute new and innovative studio production techniques. These are what contributions to an industry are. Not filling floor space in HMV.

I reckon the award was meant to go to someone else but they couldn't get them to come to the show so they though '***** it let's give it to him'. He's contributed ***** all to music and inspired no one.

It certainly isn't fair that he should get it before Take That. Especially the year they decided to axe Best Live Act for no apparate reason *rolls eyes*

All 7 Brits that the boys have won have been voted for by the public. They've never ever won a Brit award voted for by the panel. So the public ones mean something to them. :)

Beastie 15-02-2010 12:44 PM

The panel thing is stupid. ALL Brit Awards should be 100% voted by the public.

However Robbie Williams has written some of his own songs, I like him as a solo artist. However I do like Take That too. I am happy that they are both going to be getting the oustanding contribution award

Both?? No Robbie is just getting it.

Stu 15-02-2010 12:47 PM

Yes he has written his own stuff but the biggest contributions have been the Guy Chambers hits.

They don't decide stuff like that so early on.

co-written :p Guy took over on some where as the more personal ones are by Robbie

but I have to agree, although I love Robbie to bits, I dont think he has made an outstanding contribution to music, even though he has been in the music industry for 20 years (in some form or another), and to be fair, TT havent made an oustanding contribution either, though I can think of many people on the music scene right now who have

Gary Barlow is one of the most talented songwritters of his generation. I call that a contribution.

At an event like The Brits the full band would receive it for diplomatic reasons I suspect.

Scarlett. 15-02-2010 02:42 PM

True :]

Princess 15-02-2010 04:04 PM

*loves Stu a bit more* Yeah it wouldn't be fair for just Gary to get it,they all write now and Mark does write for other people as well as well as Gary now.

Scarlett. 15-02-2010 04:08 PM

Aye, though Gary is the biggest writer of them all :p

Stu 15-02-2010 04:37 PM

His a walking hit machine. I'm not even sure if his fully human.
