Episode 4
Deeper and Darker

Zee was whistling to himself as rode down the corridor, he had the bleak prospect of Double Maths ahead of him but he'd just arrived from his 'free period' so his spirits were high. As he turned the corner he saw Stu heading out of his classroom.

Stu: Oh Zee, I need to talk to you.
Zee: Oh? What about?
Stu: You're not in trouble or anything but it's about your free periods, I've noticed you've been going off campus a lot which isn't a problem but you used to always stay in school and with exams coming up it might be a good idea to use your time wisely.
Zee: Yeah of course Mr Stu, you've got nothing to worry about.
Stu: Okay, you best get going your next lesson's gonna start soon.
Stu watched as Zee maneuvered down the corridor. He wasn't convinced that everything was okay but he didn't want to push anything because there would be consequences if he was wrong.

Dezzy had just had a meeting with the rest of the 'T.C Blaze' (the newspaper, duh') group and had handed out their assignments for the week. As he started on an article he realised that he wasn't alone in the room and a sense of dread enveloped him when he realised who the straggler was. Patrick sat at a desk in the corner of the room, he was drawing something but glanced over at Dezzy every few seconds. Dezzy decided to try to ignore him, he only had 15 minutes before his English Class. He typed away and became engrossed in his work but he jumped when he realised that Patrick stood before his desk.

Dezzy: Uh, Hey Patrick.
He didn't answer
Dezzy: Is something wrong?
He remained silent for a short while.
Patrick: Did you like the present?
Dezzy hadn't forgotten about the Butterflies but he had been avoiding Patrick as much as possible, there was something wrong with Patrick and Dezzy wanted no part of it.
Dezzy: Um, what present?
Patrick: Don't play dumb, I know you saw me with my butterflies and I know you got the present I left on your doorstep.
Dezzy: Oh the Butterflies? They were uh...Lovely....thanks.
Patrick: Don't mock me, I know you Dezzy. YOU'RE LAUGHING AT ME!
He slammed his fists on the desk.
Patrick: All you do is humiliate me Dezzy! You think you're so clever then everyone else don't you? WELL YOUR NOT! You'll realise that soon DEZZY! You're gonna get what's coming!
On that ominous note he rushed out the door and left Dezzy alone, He realised that he was involved in whatever Patrick was up to now whether he liked it or not. He let himself calm down before tidying up, as he walked around the front of his desk he saw a photo on the floor and picked it up. It was of his and Patrick's Form group, the faces had all been scribbled out and one face had been cut out entirely. Dezzy's heart began to race again, it was his face that had been cut out. Now he was scared.

LemonJam had just received a letter he had been waiting for weeks to get. He nervously opened it and read it, his eyes raced across the page and a smile crept upon his face. It was good news, great in fact. All his work had paid off and he was finally on his way...But then the joy ebbed away as he saw Jen pass the empty classroom. He knew how Jen felt about him and it ripped him apart as he felt the same way but they could not be together and this letter had just confirmed it. He was on his way to achieving his dreams but was it worth it without her?

Stu: Wombai, I need to talk to you.
It was the end of the day and Wombai was just about to leave the staffroom. She grimaced as she always did when Stu talked to her.
Wombai: If it's about School send me an email...I got to pick up my son....
She delivered the last line with as much malice as possible and Stu flinched as though he had been hit in the face.
Stu: I think it's important-
Wombai: I don't care Stu, you lost the right to talk to me long ago.
Stu: All I can do is apologize for that day Wombai.
Wombai: And that's not enough, I wasn't the only victim in that crash Stu!
Wombai held her arm subconsciously, nobody could tell due to her always wearing long sleeves but her arms were covered in scars. A moment of silence passed between the two before Wombai walked away. Stu watched her through the window as she headed towards her car, Zee was waiting for her. She grabbed him in a small one armed hug before helping him into the vehicle. As Stu watched the scene he became overcome with guilt.

It was all his fault.
