Yes, all persecution is bad. This is something you seem not to know. Shame on you.

Shame on you for defending homophobes surely?

I didn't mention sexism or racism because those words exist and I'm not falling into the trap of suggesting one's worse than the other.

(I'm mixed race myself, I'm hardly not going to be against racism am I?)

Thank goodness your not a teacher full stop, your grasp of the English language, assuming you seriously don't realise your defending people who irrationally hate gay people, is awful.

Well you can't be teaching anyone anything but maybe I can help tutor you (or try).

'Homosexual' was not a word either. Then some Psychiatrists needed a clinical name to describe a mental illness where men want sex with other men.
So they came up with Homo (men, males) Sexual (sex).
OK.
A few years later 'homosexuality' was removed from the lists of mental illnesses because of protests and activists orgs but the name stuck around.

Years later and there was no such word as 'homophobic' but some people who were not mental health professionals just started using the term to describe people who did not believe homosexuality was great.
OK.
So you see the word is not even proper and would actually describe an 'irrational fear of males or men'.
That makes no sense.
An irrational fear of mankind or men huh?
OK.
Then you need to understand how a dictionary works. It does not make the words. Words make it into the Dictionary.

So just like the nonsense word 'homophobic' became popular enough it was added to a dictionary,
likewise 'homophobism' becomes a word first. The Dictionary doesn't make it a word.

Beastie 17-05-2010 02:57 PM

Bullying.

EDIT - You should make a poll!

Homo in homosexual means same not man

DigitalSid 17-05-2010 03:02 PM

And I know full well how words are created, that doesn't make homophobist or homophobism words, they aren't.

DigitalSid 17-05-2010 03:04 PM

Just because your posts are needlessly long doesn't make them authorative or right, El Proximo, they usually make little or no sense or are completely wrong as is your belief that homophobe means fear of men. *Facepalm*

Spike 17-05-2010 03:06 PM

Obviously some people are going to be affected by one of these more than the others.
They are all as bad as each other. None of them are good or can be justified

Has to be bullying since all the other "isms" are derivatives of bullying.

Stacey. 17-05-2010 04:28 PM

Sexism. it's stupid. why does it matter if you're male or female?!

Shasown 17-05-2010 04:51 PM

Racism vs homophobism vs bullying vs Sexism

Interesting question LT, yes you are guilty of all 4 on occasions.

Surely Racism, Sexism and Homophobia/homophobism etc can in some forms be quantified as forms of bullying.

Whilst an irrational fear of homosexuals, a belief in the superiority of one sex or race isnt necessarily bullying in itself it can lead to it.

Best be careful LT, people may start changing the names they have for you to bully.

Interesting and amusing little history of the word homosexual El Proximo but complete and utter bollocks. In fact the whole post is pretty much garbage.

Now for your other little statement of proxifact (thats a word I intend to introduce into the English language describing what is claimed as a statement of fact thats actually pure Bullshit)

The term homophobia was first used by Dr George Wienberg, an American psychologist in 1969. he used in to describe the feelings a heterosexual man's fear that others might think he was gay

The first person to use the word to describe an irrational fear of homosexuals was Kenneth Smith in 1971 and guess what he did for a living ? Yes thats right another psychologist. Fucking oooops

Would you like chips with that order of ElProximo****edupagain?

Hilarious little read, but I have no idea why some of you even bother trying to converse with certain members on some of the lunancy they come out with.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 17-05-2010 06:46 PM

all four put together are worst like if there was a black lesbian and somebody punched her in the face and said sorry no lesbians, were aloud gays but not lesbians (coz that sexist as well as homophobic) and then to make it worse they said ugh your ugly too bitch
