I couldn't work out whether the Sam/Grace Dent Twitter 'argument' was real or just a joke on both parts. I take it it's real then?

Some of the things she's saying are not at all funny (she might think she is),and even if it's meant in jest, there are people who might really believe he has not donated the money he was sent. Good to see that Sam is giving as good as he gets. Maybe she's miffed because she has only got about 23,000followers whilst sam has almost 110,000!

Clic Sargent is a well established childrens cancer charity,lots of famous people are involved with it,so it's NOT thanks to him people are aware of it,the charity was well known of way before Sam pepper.and why didn't he just give the link to Clic Sargent instead of people donating to HIM,sounds a bit suss to me.

It all stems from a joke tweet Sam did in response to fans tweeting him about what address to write to him, but unfortunately the power of twitter is often underestimated and loads of people took him seriously and sent him money which he immediately donated to Clic (because of Josie I guess). He has tweeted the link to the charity to prevent anyone else sending money directly to him, and to be fair he has never claimed any credit for bringing Clic to anyone's attention.

I think the point here is that he initially did it as a joke to see if people would actually donate him money... he was pi**ing himself that people were so stupid enough to do it, yet kept on asking for more... It was only after many people tweeted him back saying what he was doing wasn't right that he said he was going to donate it to charity...

So it wasn't like he did it to begin with to make money for charity... :nono:

Now if Sam had asked for donations to a charity and THEN pocketed the money for himself, that would be wrong - BUT he didn't, so get a grip.

Try reading 50cent's twitter, he's got over 3 million followers and he tweeted them all asking them each to send him $1. No doubt he was joking, but even if he wasn't, so what's it anyone's business if people want to send him money?

I would be the first one to condemn Sam if I thought he was deliberately scamming people, but I guess because I'm on twitter I've read all his tweets and it was very obvious it was a joke, which seems to have got blown out of all proportion.

Thanks for your email. I think your idea of Ben joining Twitter is a good one. However, Ben isn't particularly into his technology and the only computer he owns is from 1998! His way of communication is either by letter or a phone call. I suppose you could say that Ben is living in the 1800s... But I suppose that this is what makes Ben, Ben.

Things have been rather manic for him lately so, as his cousin, I’m keeping his fans up-to-date with what he’s up to and what’s coming next, etc. He is going to be purchasing a new computer soon so I’m going to teach him how to use Twitter, etc.

LOl,I missed it too,had unexpected visitors,i wanted to throw them out!!:joker::joker::joker:but couldn't,I was wondering if there is any where we could listen to it again?Glad Sam is not letting us down,I don't go on Twitter much,so i didn't see it,but I'm sure i will get on there as soon as Ben gets his up and going.

I follow him on twitter and various other people. His prank was not malicious in any sense and i personally couldn't believe people were donating money to him and they were not tweenies, more like adults! And then it started spiralling out of control to which he immediately tweeted back asking people to STOP donating money to him and all the money that was given to him will be sent to Josie's charity, CLIC, which he did!
This caused an outcry for people like Emma Kennedy and Grace dent. But at the end of the day,the money that was initially donated to him went to a good cause and the charity itself tweeted him back and thanked him for donating the money.

I was following nettletainment, the task producer of Big Brother and the tree, who was supporting Sam saying that it was all harmless and he would have never taken the money in the first place.

Plus 50cent has done this prank before, so it's nothing new!

As for the Grace Dent and Sam Pepper tweets earlier this morning, it was all banter! I personally find it funny that he doesn't have a clue who these people are and is never afraid to speak his mind. Good for him!

Agree with all you say - the only problem with the Grace Dent "banter" is that it could be taken the wrong way by some - as this thread has shown! Sam is way too naive in many respects, so hope he gets a bit of guidance from his new manager so his budding career isn't scuppered before it gets started.

But seeing as many of his fans will be very young & naive he should have known better... And if it was just a "joke" why did he set up a PayPal account!?!

It is quite clear that he only decided to donate the money to charity after the backlash he received. Had he been upfront from the start & perhaps asked people to donate to charity & he would give them a mention there would have been no backlash at all...

It is obvious that you like Sam Pepper, but to deny that he did anything wrong is a little silly & did you not accuse John James fans for doing that very same thing? Being so blinded for your love of a housemate, that you look past any of their faults...

But at the end of the day, it is no one's business if people wish to give someone money/fanmail. It really is of no concern to anyone.

OMG it was all a joke - he was having a dig at how gullible people can be on twitter ie the old lady who sat on his piza in piza hut - he didnt expect people to donate as soon as they did it was which charity do I donate it to. Looks like people on here are just as gullible, give the lad a break
