Here's how they work, explained by Derren Brown and some other woman:

The explanation starts at 01:30.

I've seen that before, don't think I believe it tbh

I like the Stone tape theory when it comes to ghosts. Basically it says that a ghost is just gases and cells that have been left imprinted in buildings people used to operate in and that more sensitive people can pick up on the traces and sometimes they might hallucinate sounds or figures and such. Less of a presence and more of a recording really. I haven't really explained it that well but it's an interesting theory.

Ouiji Boards are all psychological, you might be so high strung on seeing anything happen that you might move the glass slightly yourself or if you're with a mischevious friend they could be moving it. You might become so hypersensitive for a while afterwards that the littlest sounds and such seem supernatural when they're not.

For example, when I lived in my old house I woke up one night and was convinced I saw a little boy sitting cross legged on the floor. I jumped up and he was gone and after that there were a lot of weird incidents but since most occured at night when I was tired or by myself I just put them down to me being hyper sensitive and placing a bunch of mundane occurances I wouldn't notice normally to a supernatural source.

It's the same with the house I'm in now after that intruder in my garden, Whenever I'm in the kitchen at night I'm always glancing outside at the slightest hint of movement because i'm overly sensitive when it comes to that situation now.

I don't believe in ghosts, like my nan always says, It's the living that'll hurt you not the dead.

Already have, the glass smashed

Boothy 07-12-2010 06:24 PM

I want to have a go, I don't see why everyone s**ts themselves about it?

How would I go about doing it? Could I make one now with a bit of paper and a glass? Could I just sit here and do it on my own?

I'm intrigued.

Also, I don't believe in ghosts or any supernatural stuff like that. Probably why I found Paranormal Activity more boring than scary.

i do believe in ghosts but those boards are so ****ing stupid

what self respecting ghost is gonna waste its time moving a ****ing glass around on a board

like dont they have anything better to do?

i know they are dead but there must be loads of cool things to do when you are dead

*waits for oh you should kill yourself and find out reply*

I'd be out haunting people and throwing stuff such as house bricks at people who have annoyed me in life. I plan to die young so i can make this a real possibility. Plus the thought of being old and decreppit makes me sick

You CAN Contact the dead using them.
They ARE Evil.
They SHOULD NOT be touched or used.

There is other ways of contacting the dead, more harmless ways and more ways that can bring good to you than evil.

The Ouija board is not one of them, you can find yourself attaching a demon to you.

Depsite the fact that they have been debunked countless times by the scientific community and the fact that it can very easily be parsimoniously explained by going into the unconscious movements of those controlling the pointer? And about a million other little psychological brain nuances that are all readily probveable? No. It just has to be supernatural, right?

Idiot.

Bolding your points does not make you smart. Reading up on the subject and knowing the full story makes you smart.

Its his belief. Many people do believe in them. Me? No i don't. I agree with many of the things you said.

I am open minded to ghosts/spirit. Poltergeist activity. Stuff like that.

LemonJam 10-12-2010 12:37 AM

I've done it. The ghost was called Frank.

It's really strange but I think it's a subconcious thing.

Niall 10-12-2010 03:05 PM

Would I use a ouija board? Nope. Its bullcrap.

I do believe in Heaven and everything but this stuff about ghosts and contacting spirits just makes me wanna burst out laughing - its complete, utter nonsense.

Tbh I only think someone desperate with grief would use one of these but if that helps them get over their pain and loss, then go for it. I just think its about as much chance of being real as I do jumping a thousand feet into the air.

Belief isin't enough though. His wrong. Simple as. I'm not talking about spirit activity of any kind here I'm talking about ouija boards. They are B.S. and have proven to be so. If his entitled to his uninformed 'belief' after all that then I believe I'm black.

Of course I'm not black but I BELIEVEEEE!~!

also, they used to sell ouija boards in toys r us

im sure if they were dangerous they would have come with a warning

Zippy 10-12-2010 07:18 PM

I would only do it in somebody elses home...not mine. Just in case you drag up some spirit that then decides to hang around.

Not that I really believe in it but just to be on the safe side.

Yepp, ptobably a load of crap but it would be spooky and fun anyway.

Zippy 10-12-2010 09:08 PM

This is the very first patented ouija board. From 1891. The name is from the French and German words for yes...oui and ja.
