I have all faith he will be there, do his absolute best and even with an illness, his best is still way above the others in the competition.

Well balanced post..... ill or not, he went for it, he could have just buckled under, but like every other contestant on there, he wants this as badly as any of the others, and did what he could, despite even looking very ill - affirmed by another mentor who has acts that are his competition - now THAT speaks volumes to me...... Cheryl said she could see he looked ill. He was. And still got himself through.

No disrespect to you, but seeing as you have not examined Matt, (and I presume, are not a doctor or ENT specialist either), you aren't in a position to say he didn't have tonsilitis. I'd rather go with the reports from the XFactor directly.

If you suffer from tonsilitis yourself, you will be therefore very aware that it affects people in many different ways.

I have years that I get it 2 or 3 times a year, (and some years pass with no bouts) and whilst it does not totally floor me the way it appears to do with you - I do have the most awful fevers, skin clammy, throbbing throat, pounding head and ears - but I can still function where I have to. I can still speak but it is excruciatingly painful, but I can use my vocal chords.

But he still managed to reach those notes, when he was what? 1 week into the illness? Granted he looked Ill but I struggle to believe it was really tonsilitis if he was bedridden for a week but still managed to sing reasonably well, his voice would have been incredibly crackly and uneven but it wasn't. Given that he's *****d his job for sympathy all series it wouldn't surprise me if he's overselling the illness for sympathy too.

Well has it crossed your mind some of them may well have been acting like divas?and he was telling the truth? look how Cher comes across in interviews, infact the more i think about it,he's probably right,Cher when being interviewed on the TV last night said to Cheryl"Just think about it properly",LOL,I mean, cocky little so and so.It's not blind faith,I just believe in someone until they PROVE me wrong,Matt is not perfect, but then none of them are.

You disbelieve the tonsitis based on the fact that he could sing. He deliberately did not practise all week, he didn't take part in the rehearsals for the same reason: to save his voice to allow him to give it as much as he could.

The man looked ready to drop on his feet after the second song, even his hair looked as though it was soaking wet, his face looked clammy and sweaty - he looked awful.

by your own admission now, you agree he looked ill. That's the bottom line - he was ill, clearly looked ill, affirmed by the all of the judges - he still was good enough to avoid the bottom two.

You don't get that for nothing. As for the whoring it comments: I think that's something you might want to direct to Katie, rather than Matt - she was the one mouthing off about what they did or didn't get up to. ;)

It's more professional to have not bitched about it though to the press, You don't see Rebecca having to sink to those depths.

He was able to reach the notes simple BECAUSE he rested it all week.

By your own admission here: Rebecca is about the only one who hasn't offered something unpleasant up, possibly because she is a mother with children and her focus is different. Rebecca also didn't have to get into a clinch with another contestant to keep herself in the press .....

But this thread is not about bitching, or Rebecca - or who says what about which contestant. Another time, another thread for that I think.

Matt's been doing the poor me act all series 'Oh I'm middle class but I'm a poor little painter wah wah' 'I've got a cold but now i'm gonna make out that it's something worse, give me sympathy please'. Katie is, quite frankly a silly comparision. She didn't talk to the press much until she was eliminated, they just made stories up about her. Matt on the other hand has doen interviews and has slammed the other contestants in them.

If he really did have tonsilitis then sorry but I truthfully believe he couldn't have sung that well, by your own admission earlier in the thread you said it gets worser as you get older, well Matt's 7 years older then me so by your logic he should get it worse no?
