Im just dying to know one way or another, if it is coming back or not.

keithafc 11-01-2011 10:51 PM

Big Brother is over. They won't bring it back unless its as a last resort and people DEMAND it to come back. I don't see this wide range demand.

Beastie 12-01-2011 01:33 PM

I reckon we will actually know on Monday 31st January.

g17m 17-01-2011 01:55 PM

"Channel 4's Big Brother UK has also been heavily rumoured to appear on Channel 5 this year.
Talks had stalled between Endemol and Desmond back in September as the Channel 5 owner was searching for other alternatives. However, It appears Big Brother's return isn't off the cards at all just yet, as in January 2010 a source said that Desmond was willing to give the Hit Reality TV Show another chance.

They are taking their time FFS. I don't think its going to be back anyway but it will be nice to have it confirmed.

Smithy 17-01-2011 06:17 PM

Bring it back as a 4 week summer celebrity version

Yes it may go onto next month
As Desmond will not back down from his price

He can wait until they take his money deal
thats his style.

So are talks still in place? They haven't cut ties completely?

MTVN 18-01-2011 02:28 PM

Agree. I think the majority of the population is fed up with nobodies going into the BB house. We don't care for them enough.

Brekkie 21-01-2011 04:12 PM

I disagree with the notion Celebrity BB should survive - that isn't what BB is about - I've always said celebrity killed the reality star.

Much prefer the everyday nobodies to the Z-list celeb nobodies - it just comes down to casting people who want to be in Big Brother because of what they'll experience in the house, not because of what might happen afterwards. They managed that with BB11 and BB9 - but completely failed with BB8 and BB10.

James 21-01-2011 07:18 PM

Yeah, I preferred the summer series to the celebrity one. Celebrity Big Brother was always a bit of a sideshow in comparison and there are enough celebrity reality programmes as it is.

Stu 21-01-2011 07:24 PM

Agreed with all the above. I'd rather get to know people over three months than get to point and laugh at nobodies who don't really want to be there for three weeks.

I'm sure come January 31st the tone of this thread will suddenly change to 'well it could be announced in February!' :joker:.

It does look like any kind of announcement will be February judging by this

"OK! TV will replace Live from Studio 5 on Monday 14 February. It is expected to be backed by a big marketing campaign and heavy cross-promotion in Desmond's newspaper and magazine empire, including the Daily Star and Daily Express.

The new show is expected to be part of a wider channel rebrand to be launched on screen next month."

For god sake I was hoping by next week we would get some news!!

Beastie 23-01-2011 09:49 PM

I agree also that I prefer the nobody series to the celebrity one. However last year's celebrity one was good. They got it right and it was better than bb11 if you ask me. I just hope they do one more celeb bb with Boy George in it!

Anyway Summer is just not the same without BB. I have coped this January without the Celeb version. Only a few weeks missed. But BB has to be back. No point in waiting until next year.

Totally agree with you, i will not know what to do with myself, when BB should be on our screen from June onwards.:bawling:

Billy 23-01-2011 10:48 PM

LOL Patrick you crack me up.

Marsh. 24-01-2011 12:15 AM

How many times are people gonna push it back before they realise BB is dead?
Announcement after the finale of BB11, doesn't happen.
Announcement by end of 2010 - doesn't happen so it's January. And now any announcement is likely February? Is it not likely that no such announcement will be made?

Sticks 24-01-2011 06:03 AM

It was of it's time

It's over

Move on

As I have said before If Endemol take
Ch5's offer.

The Deal is Alive.

Ties get cut after legal problems
They are not having legal problems
just Price problems.

So no cut of ties.

A New Channel can change it.

You may want it over
but that does not count.

The Boss of Ch5 Desmond was live on his channel
saying he was in talks and wants its on Ch5(at his price)

Ch5 have not Confirmed the Talks are over.

The Guardian Media
has reported problems over the price Desmond will pay.

Not since the reports of talks stalling though?

And even if he has spoken of still wanting it since, it's all about building up an otherwise non-existent interest in their almost certainly lacklustre new line up.

Re-runs on at 5-6 on E4 to replace friends. That would work for me
