It probably happened too fast to get a picture though - I mean I doubt anyone is going to go on Holiday to there and be like 'Right love, get the camera ready incase a hobo runs down the road with a head in his hands!'.

No one was suggesting that, idiot.

But, no, I wouldn't think there'd be pictures.

For now. He was locked up remember, and then released - and this was the result.

Yes. Released. 'allegedly'.

Deyan Valentinov was reportedly released from a psychiatric hospital in February and had a history of violent behaviour before brutally killing the 62-year-old Briton in a shopping centre in Los Cristianos yesterday.
He was reportedly admitted to the psychiatric unit after knocking a stranger's teeth out on the street.

As Mayor Reverón said the incident was 'the most horrific crime to hit the resort in recent years', questions were raised about why Spanish authorities had allowed the attacker to wander the streets.

Attacking a random stranger and knocking TEETH (plural) out - is not the action of a man who is sane or harmless.

His latest action was nothing more than a step up for him, I'd bet my last £1 that if he'd not beheaded this poor woman, he'd have done something far worse than what he'd previously did.

Deyanov back in the better days when he was a salesman

"Like many of his countrymen, Deyanov is thought to have travelled
to Tenerife after Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007.
He found work handing out cards to advertise a timeshare scheme
and rented a flat in Los Cristianos.
Following a crackdown on timeshare salesmen,
he struggled for money working as a tout for
beachfront restaurants and bars.
It was then that he descended into mental illness and drug addiction
which left him homeless and increasingly aggressive."

He should have left and gone home to bulgaria
as soon as he had no work.

I find this story awful, gruesome and very disturbing, however,'Conor I have to admit I did raise a few smiles at your comment above.

Barbie 16-05-2011 11:37 AM

I was out there at the time, saw it on a news channel, bit odd to know it happened just down the road.

He was known to the authorities apparently. Shame she had to fall victim to people not properly assessing his mental health

Suze 16-05-2011 11:51 AM

Ok, berate me for the following if you wish, I expect it, but .....

........ Deyan Valentinov being depicted as an evil killer seems wrongly worded. Yes, what he carried out was totally horrific. If I was a member of that poor woman's family or a friend, I would have nothing but loathing for that man who carried out that crime. But looking at it from the perspective of a reader of that awful news item, the man was mentally ill and in need of strict supervision, not to be allowed on the streets where he was known to be a pest, a ticking timebomb waiting for that fuse to be lit, he was probably not even taking any prescribed meds for all we know. He wasn't an evil calculating killer as far as we know, he is mentally ill, the blame for what happened should for the most part lay with the authorities that saw fit to release him into society again and the laws themselves which need tightening up. The tragedy should never have happened in the first place :(

Jords 16-05-2011 12:19 PM

This makes me so mad, WHY D:

arista 16-05-2011 12:39 PM

"he is mentally ill"

Sure but he did a Evil Killing.
The fact he is crazy does not mean he can not be Evil

arista 18-05-2011 07:24 PM

On Ch4News tonight
they found out he was sectioned in Wales.
And he said he would go back home in Bulgaria

No, but does it mean he's Evil because of his ill mental state?

It's definitely no excuse for what he's done but if he's mentally deranged then it's the authorities that should hang their heads in shame for what happened to that poor woman.

He should have been properly detained.
