Yeah, everyone wants to leave the corpse at home don't they or sitting in their favourite chair. Not that it would be a problem.

If someone such as yourself is not religious it doesn't mean they don't want a proper burial. Whether you believe in afterlife or not, the idea of cremating and burning the corpse of a loved one is horrific. A simple burial is a nicer and more peaceful means.

You said "resurrected into heaven".

Definition - Resurrection - The act of rising from the dead or returning to life.

Heaven is the afterlife involving the belief in a spirit or soul. Nothing to do with the physical body. Do you understand now?

Oh no, I would much rather this then to think about rotting corpses and insects eating them:shocked:

I'd say it makes perfect sense. Do you know what resurrection means? You might not agree with the belief but that doesn't negate the fact that others do.

In fairness: I believe that's a very personal opinion. Some believe in burials, some believe in cremation. Regardless: the idea of wishing the deceased Resting In Peace is the same.

Of course that's true. I should have worded it differently.
I was just explaining that the act of burial goes beyond religious purposes, dependant on the person there is nothing else to do with the body really.

Quite the researcher into something you don't like, aren't you?

And where in the thread did you mention we were speaking specifically about Christianity?

"Religion" is a very broad term.
