The only two times recently I noticed new members getting treated with suspicion are Redway and Mr CW. And I think it was because of posting style in both cases.

Well in fairness; one of them made a bit of a song and dance about DS - about being banned, handing out advise on how to reregister after being banned etc....and then went on to announce that they had been permabanned several times but kept reregistering - ie: they are in fact, not new to being a PBU on DS - and more than once or twice. Given that information being freely volunteered by said individual - it's not surprising people will have doubts. Especially when they have only just joined another forum (tibbs).

I think newbies should be welcomed. It's not nice if they came on and members starting having a dig at them.

I remember the lights of Stu were brutal with me when I first joined. He's not as brutal now though.

Captain Remy was a bit brutal too!

I made clear the other day that jumping on new members won't be tolerated. We should be encouraging new members to stay.

If you do have suspicions though, then PM a mod/admin and we'll look into it for you.

Be my guest, but you'll have to beat Scott to it. ;)

That's with I being the latest victim. You should've seen what happened two days ago. Accused of being a PBU, called a "prick", etc. My complaints were totally dismissed. I was really annoyed, and was about to leave this site. Still here. ;)

Yeah, but it's not, though. Since I got banned from DS, I thought to myself, why not join another forum? There's nothing suspicious at all, and it's got nothing to do with you if I did anyway, which I didn't. If you don't believe me, go and see a moderator/administrator about it. ;)

Steps ahead of you, steps ahead. ;)

Of course it's suspicious. You happily admit to being a PBU (and several times a PBU) within days of you joining Tibbs...... therefore it's entirely feasible that you may have been a PBU on Tibbs as well as DS. Entirely feasible.

Whether you are or not time will tell. If and when that time comes, I will be the first one to offer my apology to you. Until then however, enjoy Tibbs.

Thank you! I am telling you I'm not, but, still. We're all entitled to do what we want. Go ahead. ;)

Thanks for offering that apology to me - which you will - and I'll be here waiting for you. ;)

Weren't you extolling the virtues of the mods only the other day - how fab they were - and now you're saying they dismiss your complaints. How confusing!!

thanks for letting me know I'm allowed my own opinion - quite unecessary.

As for the completely smarmy reply ....... I might just rescind that offer after all. ;)

See you around ;)

Just for you here's another one ;)

I felt welcomedish but I didn't really join then post loads straight away, I also never made a hey I'm new thread so I kind of just think I slowly seeped in and I guess now I'm like a regular. But perosonally I think memebers without an avatar seem much more suspicious than otherwise so I'd advise new members to make sure they have a memorable picture.

LOL... I recall when I joined: I got the usual suspects Stacey, Jordan, Jack et al, jumping on me with the most vicious comments and personal insults - and I remember one post, within about my 5th post or something giving real grief (I think it was 'In One' or The Beast?? sorry guys if it wasnt you!!) - and my reply was a polite but very firm version of 'Don't piss around with me mate.....'

Omg, when I joined stacey was lovely to me, probably the most welcoming person out of everyone at the time. No one gave me propper greif at all.
I dont even remember when I started posting to be honest, I joined in november becuase of the BB12 news and BBDVD's and I dont think I was even noticed until january if even that early.

No one, I have to say was really awful to me when I first joined.I'm not a suspicious person in that I don't look for reasons to doubt anyone,I prefer to look for what is good in people.
Even the people who sometimes annoy me on here, I still can agree at times with lot's that they say and I still try to get along with them.

I think new members do need to be welcomed and both old and new members could try to respect each others different ways of posting,
Writing things you want to say down, doesn't always to the reader come across the way it was intended to,a humerous comment could be construed as an angry and confrontational one not actually hearing how it is said but only by how it's written.

I think it has more to do with 'when' a newbie joins. I joined about the time of the Ben, Mario, and JJJ debates. Although for the most part I had no big problems with the supporters of JJJ, I always seemed to have a Molette or two on my back. So it was a lot with who supported whom in BB11 at that time, so it was more to do with that than having troubles with some members. Since then, I have managed to gauge most of the style and wit of the posters, especially the more prolific posters and get where some are coming from and with better understanding hopefully. This helps in how I relate then to posts :) There will always be a very few members who get on my wick, but that is the same as people in the outside world, you just can't gel with everyone as there will always be those clashes with some, but hopefully can a majority of them.

I agree Suze, really strong and enlightening post, I was a Ben supporter and got some jjames people getting at me but that was part of the debate as you say.
You are right in your statement as to getting used to the way posters post their comments, it takes time to work out where they are coming from and how they mean things.I try to do that and think in the main I manage to.
