Maybe we need to try it again. It's good for these sort of issues to be addressed. Of course, there is always PM, but having a more open type of thread where people can contribute and agree to choose a side and an opposition has the potential to be useful. If, however, they choose to keep a private debate, that's partly what PM is there for. Of course, there are always going to be things said on threads that lead to sub-fights, but, other than PM, more active discussion, wherein the members can support or disagree with stated comments has the potential to be useful. It's just when people abuse such privilege, with such things as picking a fight with somebody over the slightest of things, is when the continuity of such type of thread needs to be debated and taken into consideration. It would be far preferable if members could just get along, but, as stated in a previous thread, it simply won't happen. Try putting this idea into consideration; but I don't think it's very fair that, because of a few members who like to troll and bait, this type of privilege should be permanently revoked and and deemed as to what can be considered to be nonconstructive debate. Perhaps you could moderate this by allowing a thread wherein members can challenge each other if they feel they have been treated unfairly, with sides opposing or supporting, rather than having to have threads closed and receiving infractions or bans constantly. Think about it. :)
