sipping water? I have done, tried every method you can think of, the only thing that actually works for me (and it's only a last resort if I've had them ages) is to make myself sick

Hardly a scientific result but I tried this after reading your post with a friend at Uni who had hiccups bad, and it worked,he's amazed.

being sick doesn't bother too much but I only do that if I have them for ages and can't get rid of them!

I don't think he had bulimia, I think he had anorexia. Every time he looked in the mirror he thought he was fat.
