It depends on the booze really, for me also it depends on the setting.

I could drink for Ireland by myself in my room when I'm annoyed and just listen to music and be fine, the last time I did that I found myself dancing to the radio on GTA: Ballad of Gay Tony and then falling and ended up falling asleep on the floor.

The other week I only had about 7 Cans of Harp or something [this wasn't in my room lol] and was completely pissed; Niall is a witness .

So yeah it depends on the booze and probably the setting, sometimes.

I haven't tried it - so can't comment but anything that can be ate that comes from that country tastes like pigeon vomit - I imagine the drinks would be almost as bad?

Slavics have an imhuman tolerance to booze and produce some of the finest beer and vodka in the world.

Ireland has a great reputation with booze but it certainly doesn't lie with lager. Moreso stout and whiskey.

Polish booze is the business. It's cheaper and stronger.

Kerry 07-07-2011 01:53 AM

One thing I have noticed - I can drink 5% cider 'til the cows come home. Drink the same strength lager at the same quantity and .... well, oh dear....

Ramsay 07-07-2011 06:30 AM

Ramsay 07-07-2011 06:31 AM

Ramsay 07-07-2011 06:32 AM

oh and 4 euro wine from tesco is the business

Redway 07-07-2011 06:42 AM

Yes, Stu. I can actually take in quite a lot of booze, really. I don't get drunk easily - but I do get drunk often!

CharlieO 07-07-2011 07:25 AM

Generally quite a bit before I get drunk.
But it also depends on how much I have eaten that day. I usually have to drink a lot but then it hits me like a ton of bricks randomly and I'm never really eased into drunkenness. I did 20 shooters in a bar once all in a row and I still was not drunk after that so had 3 vodka limes and then ot hit me really quick. If I haven't eaten anything that day though I can get drunk of one or two vodka mixers.

But I hardly am ever sick, only been sick once.

Usually:
Pres: 2 ciders and a vodka mixer
Out: Lots of shooters/shots until I'm drunk. Generally vodka based drinks.

patsylimerick 07-07-2011 07:38 AM

Oooh. Interesting thread. Don't get the vomiting guys? What are ye doing wrong? Only time I ever got sick after drink was when some gobshoite gave me a two litre bottle of poteen, which I thought was water, and slugged out of accordingly. There was a time when all I drank was neat Jameson. Shot after shot after shot. And I'd murder anyone who put water, ice or anything else into it. But it made me gnarly. At college I used to win all the drinking competitions. A particular favourite was a tequila shot, a bailey's, a tequila shot, a bailey's, a tequ........... you get the picture, until everyone bar one sitting around the table had fallen down. I never fell down.
I have grown up and got sense. Nowadays, a nice bottle of Merlot - just the one - or seven or eight bottles of beer, once or twice a week and I'm happy.

joeysteele 07-07-2011 08:48 AM

I don't drink a lot of alcohol,I will at a party obviously but in the main I am just a social drinker, prefer a few drinks with friends and/or family.
I get sleepy if I have too much to drink anyway.

I agree with the bolded bit. But generally speaking alot depends on what I drink, wine, I can drink one bottle, if I drink even one extra glass after that I'll be sick but I can switch to another drink and be fine. Beer I could drink forever, I get to a certain level of drunkness and I start to get a hangover. Spirits I've banned myself from drinking more then two in a night, especially vodka, I used to drink it all the time but it made me go loopy, have black outs and usually an argument.

Same as Scotland.........plus offies/supemarkets/garages not allowed to sell untial 10am of a morning. On Sundays until 12.30pm. There are ways around that by unscrupulous taxi companies who will deliver a bottle of spirits @ 2am plus 40 fags - but that's dodgy.

I was amazed when I visited my cousin in Surrey many moons ago - we were low on supplies to drink for taking the train on the way to London to see Scottish Claymores play at Stamford Bridge. This Sunday she drove us to Asda @ 09.00 smoking a joint on the way - just so the Scottish guests could get more supplies.

Most amusing thing I've ever read on TiBB - do you mean a water shandy Patrick?

Marc 07-07-2011 11:35 AM

I can drink a lot, Pimms seems to just be water to me right now.. addicted.

Too much beer & cider makes me bloated and I stop mainly because of that. Wine gets me drunk pretty fast mind! Over Xmas I am usually hard to get drunk because that's all I do every day LOL
