Is a human life more important than an animals?
No. |

LOL! actually in a lot of countries, there is such a thing as, non assistance to person in danger! Where if you let someone die (a human being that is), when you couldve done something about it, you can go to jail. And yes, that includes your worst enemy as well! NO such laws for an animal, and rightfully so! Seriously, I cant believe i AM even debating this! :D I do love my pet. But I know the difference between an animal, and a human being! I can hate someone, but still know that their life is more valuable than that of my pet's. I believe anyone who doesnt understand that, has some psychological issues (just me again). A stranger, my worst enemy, is still a person, our beloved pet, is an animal, sorry but its not even close to me. The stranger that I dont like, has a family, parents, friends, and is a member of society, whose life, is just as valuable as mine. A pet that potentially has a lifespan of 10 or so years, with the brain of an animal, which is basically mainly instincts, is not comparable to that of any human being to me! There is a reason why you get the death penalty or life in prison for murdering a human being, and its investigated. And there is a reason why no one investigate, a dead animal. THE DIFFERENCE is clear. BUt obviously, some people have detached themselves from humanity, so much so, that they dont understand what it means anymore! How many years you get for murder of an animal again! LOL! The fact that this is even a debate, is sad, and horrifying for me! |
I am half serious here but still gonna give this example. Lets say your pet, is killed by another animal, who attacked the pet. Should we try to capture it, and you know, give it a trial. Since, animals are the same as humans after all. What they would most likely do, is barbaric, which is to probably put them down if its a savage animal. thats just not right!
I think the animal should get a life in a pound sentence personally! JUst like it would be for a premeditated murder for a human being! :) |

Everyone will think differently about this. I would save my pet over an enemy. I would save a favourite teeshirt over an enemy. All the analogies in the world wouldn't change that. |

Couple of more points. YOur pet, does not contribute anything positive to society. They only consume stuff. They dont make anything, they dont work, they dont contribute to the economy! If anything, they only hurt it!
And Its just selfish to want to save your pet, over a stranger. YOur desire to pet your animal, is greated than saving another person, who might have parents, children, people who depend on him! people like to be idealistic, and believe they would save their pet first, but I bet you anything most of you guys, when the situation presents itself, would think differently! If you dont, then in my opinion, you are not a normal human being! ONe last thing, why do you value the pets that have the most human qualities! Hmmmm.... What about a snake??? would you save your pet snake over the stranger??? HOw about a pet ferret??? would you save him as well! I mean they are all animals right??? JUst as important as other humans, and presumably, just as important as each other!!! Cmon people!!! give me a break! |

Humans have the opportunity to change other people lives so maybe but in a straight 1v1 then no.

There is one sure way to cure a zealous 'animal activist' type of PETA person. I mean the kind who thinks animals and humans are all 'equals' etc.
Let them come along with me and my Dad for a few weeks in the bush. We won't go hunting but basically do the same things. Then you can see a Grizzly Bear. Watch them HORRIFICALLY 'murder' a Bambi Deer. A little Fawn. In front of its mother. You just watch that. I will spare you a list. A list of horrifying 'atrocities' you will see in nature. You will see animals unleashing 'genocide' and 'serial killing' and 'child murders' all day and night among animals. Hey you can even see animals get into 'mobs' and kill their own children sometimes! Now, the thing is. You can walk away actually respecting nature and animals all the more. In fact, you will have a very profound respect I think. but, you will find it hard to be one of these 'PETA' types any longer after that. *and no, I don't defend any kind of animal cruelty and I do not hunt animals. I also live in reality. |

LOL! :)
At least that was funny! One more point, so how would you feel if you are that stranger, an someone else saves their pet over you! Are you OK with that, knowing how important you are as a person, for the people who are close to you, what your loss would mean to them. DO you equate that loss to the loss of the pet that got saved! ?? |
I'd save my worst enemy over my dog. And I love my dog to bits. But my dog is thick and not a person.
I don't consider that abnormal at all. |
Human life is 100000000% more important, no question.

I would happily give my own life over for my dogs, in fact I was one of those fools you see on the tv, I nearly drowned saving my dog, who is a springer spaniel and more than capable of swimming!!!
That said I would give my life but not the life of another person. My little dog is nearly 16 years old and is very much a part of my family and I can only speak in a what I "think" I would do way. I think I would save the person. I value my pet, and anyone who suggests I dont love her needs to jog on, but I value human life as well. Its a moral dilemna, a one I like to think I would make the right choice in. |

A human life is more important than an animals life in the same way that an American life is more important than a non-American's life, and a member of my family's life is more valuable than someone who's not a member of my family's life.
There are scales of loyalty. First comes Family, Then comes Country, Then comes Species. LOYALTY is important. |
