She's an attention *****. Like Fingers said, if her husband wasn't the Speaker who in the world would give a **** about a forty-one year old mother of three who isn't wearing particularly well. She's a bored housewife. She's never going to be an MP, she's ensured that with her lurid accounts of casual sex, binge drinking and a host of other revelations that no one would care about if she wasn't Mrs Speaker. She's done everything for attention except jump up and down, wave her arms and scream "look at me!"... which I wouldn't put past her if all else fails.

A right Berc
Let us not forget that literary classic, 'The John Bercow guide to understanding women', written when he was chairman of the federation of conservative students and which contained the classic chat up line: “If you’re free later maybe we could go back to your place and name your breasts.”... how could any girl resist?

Sally Bercow laughs off "ridiculous" divorce claims

If he divorces her over her having her own mind and not being a mindless puppy like most wives of 'famous' people who just sit and agree with everything their husbands say and fade into the distance, then hes not worth having in the first place. She would be better without him.
|
I think its possible for a married woman to be independent, have her own mind and own opinions without acting like an arse I'm front if the whole nation.

She doesn't have to fade into the background, she can do whatever she wants with her life... but what she's doing is dubiously raising her own profile off of the back of her husband's position. So... does she want to be her own person like she claims, or she going to continue using her husband's position for her self-promotion, while claiming to be an individual? There are a lot of MPs wives - and husbands - who have quietly got on with their own careers without the need to post in a bedsheet in front of the House of Commons. |
But...she hasnt even done anything outrageous or anything. I could understand him getting pissed off if she had been getting pissed and flirting with all the guys or something like that. But shes done absolutely nothing to be ashamed of...so far though I guess.
And what she does shouldnt be used against him in an election. Shes not him :/ God I would hate to be the wife of someone in parliament :o |

Im probably being blinded to everything by the fact that no way would I let a man control ANYTHING at all about me, no mater who they were  |

What she does will be used against him in an election because that's how it works. I'm an agent, I would use her misdemeanours against him, and his agent would do the same against my candidiate. It's not fair... but it's the way it is. Even though I work in politics, I have no idea what Michael Martin's wife looks like, and he was the Speaker before John Bercow. I do understand what you mean about not letting a man control you, and I completely agree. But a little mutual respect is what's needed there I think. |
