I though she made a fool of herself, her husband and of her marriage when she laughed at the fact that he had asked her not to do BB, but she had done it anyway.

I found her VT embarrassing: She actually came across as resentful towards her husband, almost mocking him. Divorce wouldn't surprise me to be honest, they obviously aren't that a close couple.

LOL! Why do I always agree with your posts! I just wrote something almost identical, before reading it! :)

She's an attention *****. Like Fingers said, if her husband wasn't the Speaker who in the world would give a **** about a forty-one year old mother of three who isn't wearing particularly well. She's a bored housewife. She's never going to be an MP, she's ensured that with her lurid accounts of casual sex, binge drinking and a host of other revelations that no one would care about if she wasn't Mrs Speaker. She's done everything for attention except jump up and down, wave her arms and scream "look at me!"... which I wouldn't put past her if all else fails.

The man knew her before he proposed to her. The idea that she should become some trophy wife for him and the sake of his career is sooo 1950's.

Some people seem to have forgotten the women's liberation movement.

Oh god, have you honestly just compared the situation between the Royals and Diana to Sally Bercow?

Diana's and Sally's behaviour couldn't be any more different.

A right Berc

Let us not forget that literary classic, 'The John Bercow guide to understanding women', written when he was chairman of the federation of conservative students and which contained the classic chat up line: “If you’re free later maybe we could go back to your place and name your breasts.”... how could any girl resist?

John Bercow is an idiot. He was nominated Speaker by the Labour Party as a finger up to the Conservatives, knowing that whatever happened, Labour wouldn't be in power after the General Election. Doesn't mean that the office he holds shouldn't be granted some respect.

Incidentally, I call mine Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Sally Bercow laughs off "ridiculous" divorce claims

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s150/...ce-claims.html

Quote:

Sally Bercow has laughed off speculation that her decision to take part in Celebrity Big Brother could lead to the breakdown of her marriage.

The 41-year-old is said to have infuriated her husband John, who is speaker of the House of Commons, by agreeing to join the Channel 5 series. Reports claim that Sally faces a "gruesome" divorce as John considers their future together.

Bercow told New magazine before entering the house: "For God's sake, no! It's just ridiculous. He wouldn't divorce me because I embarrass him and if I embarrass anyone, it will be myself.

"I can't really speak for him. All I can say is that he knew what I was like when he married me. He knows I'm doing it for a good cause. He'll come round, but I can't say he was over the moon."

Asked if she was worried about the impact Celebrity Big Brother could have on her or John's career, she responded: "I'm not. I hope people will get to see the real me rather than the me portrayed in the press.

"They called me shameless and attention-seeking which is absolutely ridiculous, complete snobbery and sexism."

Bercow added: "The main reason I am going in is to raise £100,000 for my charity. Of course I would like to boost my own career, too. I am in the middle of writing a novel."
mmmmm ..... I see .....

If he divorces her over her having her own mind and not being a mindless puppy like most wives of 'famous' people who just sit and agree with everything their husbands say and fade into the distance, then hes not worth having in the first place. She would be better without him.

Lee. 23-08-2011 02:19 PM

I think its possible for a married woman to be independent, have her own mind and own opinions without acting like an arse I'm front if the whole nation.

Next time there's an election, the agent of whoever's standing against John Bercow will use every one of her indescretions against him. He knows that, and so does she... but she doesn't seem to care.

She doesn't have to fade into the background, she can do whatever she wants with her life... but what she's doing is dubiously raising her own profile off of the back of her husband's position. So... does she want to be her own person like she claims, or she going to continue using her husband's position for her self-promotion, while claiming to be an individual?

There are a lot of MPs wives - and husbands - who have quietly got on with their own careers without the need to post in a bedsheet in front of the House of Commons.

Vicky. 23-08-2011 02:23 PM

But...she hasnt even done anything outrageous or anything. I could understand him getting pissed off if she had been getting pissed and flirting with all the guys or something like that. But shes done absolutely nothing to be ashamed of...so far though I guess.

And what she does shouldnt be used against him in an election. Shes not him :/

God I would hate to be the wife of someone in parliament :o

In her VT, she proudly told the nation whilst laughing that her husband had asked her not to go into the BB house, but she had anyway... that's got to be embarrassing and hurtful no matter who you are. A decent person wouldn't take the piss out if her husband on national tv.

I suppose a lot of what she's done in the past is being dragged out into the light again because she's in BB.

What she does will be used against him in an election because that's how it works. I'm an agent, I would use her misdemeanours against him, and his agent would do the same against my candidiate. It's not fair... but it's the way it is. Even though I work in politics, I have no idea what Michael Martin's wife looks like, and he was the Speaker before John Bercow.

I do understand what you mean about not letting a man control you, and I completely agree. But a little mutual respect is what's needed there I think.

Sally Bercow blasted by I'm a Celeb star Christine Hamilton

'It's demeaning and humiliating': Sally Bercow blasted by I'm a Celeb star Christine Hamilton for being on Big Brother

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...#ixzz1VwnHcFjv

Quote:

Her husband Speaker John Bercow wasn't happy with her decision to enter the Big Brother house, and it seems he isn’t the only one.

Sally Bercow has been blasted for appearing on the reality TV show by Christine Hamilton, who said it was ‘demeaning and humiliating’.

Mrs Hamilton, 62, who is herself no stranger to reality TV after appearing on the first series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here told MailOnline that Sally is showing ‘ a complete lack of respect to her husband and his office.’

Speaking at the Edinburgh festival the British battle axe said: ‘When the Sally Bercow circus first started I supported her, why should wives be defined by their husbands? But she has gone completely over the top.’

‘She has a responsibility to her husband to respect his dignity and the dignity of his office, no wonder he is cowering in India.’
Good for Christine, who stood by (and up for) her man .....
