That's nature. Nature will always strike every country. And you forget they are a huge country, those floods only hit a small region of it.

things I miss about Britain when I'm not there erm...mostly careful drivers
green grass
rivers that actually have water
communicating in English

Cromwell1900 09-09-2011 06:36 PM

The trouble as i see it with Britain is not what we have got, because imo that is second to none, but we seem to be losing it, or selling it or downsizing it, privatizing it.

It's been happening for years.

Premiere League is.nt really British because so many of the clubs are foreign owned

NHS can't be afforded so it's changing and not for the better judging the current plans.

So much of the things we are giving away won't be gained back which is why i say

Im Proud of Britain today, but the Britain of Tomorrow is any ones guess.

A polish guy said to me at work he doesn't like the UK. I asked him why? He then said "Young people here are stupid". I said.. "do you like me?" he then mumbled then I just walked away...

Exactly. We are losing our identity too fast and honestly it feels as if we are now reliant upon every other nation.

No offence, but I have to half agree with that. A lot of youngsters seem to be so fixated on reality TV, becoming famous (without any actual real talent), the newest gadgets, yet give them a simple every day task and they struggle and have no actual grasp of actually doing stuff or thinking about how to solve it. Obviously not all as some of the youngsters are very smart.

To be fair me and my boyfriend already have a good deposit between us. There was a house in a nice-ish area that he liked. But it had a downstairs bathroom and a part of me was like.. "it's too soon for me to commit" yet..

However someone at my work said to me.. "now is the time to buy". Maybe she is right. House prices are cranking up!!

It's because I was taught about money from a young age. I wouldn't say I am tight. I just don't like spending money on pointless things.

My mum and dad rent their house so when they die not like I will get the house because it's not owned by us. But me and my partner do have enough money for a deposit to go into a mortgage house!

True. But thick people are harmless. Don't get why they are hated. If a thick person has a job and is paying taxes through life and not sponging off the goverment then what more could you ask for?

Too much stereotyping really.

As long as they don't try to procreate.

It is most def a buyers market just now. I feel heart sorry for those who are needing to sell - and simply cannot shift unless they bring down the price to unbelievable levels. It's so sad.

Why? We need a few thick people for jobs that need doing like sweeping the streets. However suppose they could be lazy. Plus EVERYONE should at least do a bit of grafting.

In this economy I would rather be 'thick' and in employment than 'smart' and be unemployed:hugesmile:

I agree most people that aren't to bright are harmless and should not be chritisized, but what about the 16 yr old who is asked Why did you steal that" and he replies "I don't know" then says "It's for something to do" then says "Were in charge not the Police were just trying to show them who's boss"

I heard that virbal diarrea coming from a lads mouth during the riots. The reason for that crap is the reason i feel less proud of Britain because if you went to Afrika, India, probably anywhere other than America you would not be able to find such rubbish coming out of one single kids mouth.

That Drivell is Made In Britain it's ours we own it, we created it, and we ignore it and i'm not Proud of that.

You know Beastie, there's very good rationale behind what you say!

True. I am not that smart but I am in employment. To be honest I don't know how smart I am and I don't care for the stereotypes of who is smarter.

However usually you get people who arn't as bright but is a grafter. Then those who are academically clever.

The others are just "lazy". I agree that EVERYONE thick or smart needs to contribute to society more.

There are no jobs because one of the reasons is that foreigners are getting them. But because they harder workers and will do the jobs English people won't do. However 2 foreigners have just been fired from my workplace because they have been caught doing bonus fraud. Faking signatures from managers so they get extra pay but they have been caught out..

So there you go. There is no stereotype really. There can be **** English people and **** foreigners. But also decent English and foreign people. Problem with the UK is that at the moment.. ok we might be well off at the moment. Well better than other countries but we are WEAK.

Sounds like as much as a lot don't want it to that maybe Britain needs to become more "PC" again. Limit the amount of crap that we see in television, magazines etc. But for most folk all that is just a laugh. It's just there.

We need more community spirit and youth clubs. Something for unemployed or any of these young rioters to do something.

Margaret Thatcher is to blame for what has happened. Everything wasn't as bad until she came along.

I currently hate this place. I didn't realise how nice and good people were in Singapore until I met the idiots at this boarding school I'm stuck at.
