The only things that I have a problem with are when people violate other's rights to live how they want to. And yes, that includes the rights of animals. People like to think that humans are special and what not, but we are just very intelligent animals... some of us more so than others. We don't have a right to needlessly take another animal's life.

Therefore you will love tribes such as the Masi Mari who rely heavily on animal products, drinking the animal's blood and many others who do the same thing?

If you need to question what the point of me posting that link: I suggest you read again the same wording that I referred you to in my previous post. Take the blinkers off and you might see the difference in what I said, and what you think I said.

I realize you said "couple" obviously. What I am saying is that your purpose for posting that link was to portray vegans in a poor way. Was it supposed to make vegans look good? I know what you said, I don't have blinkers on, and I know the effect that post was meant to have.

Well, you're not in this instance. Anyway, I have absolutely nothing against you - except for this thing you've got on, which I think is wrong.

YOU'RE entitled to YOUR opinion but you shouldn't have a go at other people. We need meat. Do we need racists? No. Do we not homophobics? No. Do we need other twisted, perverted, arrogant little cows? No. Do people need meat, though? Yes. It is not your job to tell people what they can and cannot eat. If you don't like meat, absolutely fine. Just don't have a go at people who don't agree with you. That's very childish.

Of course meat is murder.

No, but I understand that because of the resources available to them it is a necessity for them to use animal products. It is unfortunate, but a cruel part of life. We are very lucky that we live in places where we don't have to use animal products.

Fair enough. I see you're really passionate about animals - which is fine. :) For the umpteenth time, though, just don't call people names because they don't share your views.

No we don't. It actually reduces high blood pressure, colon and prostate cancers, and heart disease if you don't consume animal products.

Omega 3 - fatty acids, is a problem. One of three crucial components being DHA.
  • DHA is a long chain (22 carbon) fatty acid. It is found mostly in fatty fish, in small amounts in eggs, and in very small amounts in seaweed. It is a major component of the gray matter of the brain, and also found in the retina, testis, sperm, and cell membranes. Low levels of DHA have been associated with depression, and high levels and intake are associated with lower rates of heart disease.
Special vegan supplements are recommended, same for B12 vitamin. I'm sure our Vegan friend will confirm.

Thank you! Everyone on here has been so savage just because I want cruelty to end. I didn't realize I was calling people names, but I suppose I just get really aggressive about this issue.

Ah.... so again, you change your stance.

What about those who have intolerances to a vegan/veggie lifestyle - can do it, may wish to follow but will cause them discomfort as far as health is concerned.? do you hate them too .... after all, what's a bit of discomfort due to body intolerance vs an animal being killed?

All of my foods give me adequate amounts of both. As I have said before, we are very lucky to live in a time and place in which these things are available to us.

Those are just some of the negatives, though - with a particular accentuation on red meat. There's a lot of positive involved, too.

That's totally fine. It's normal to get worked up in a debate! I don't agree, though, on the fact that meat is bad - because there's a lot more positive than negative involved - but it's your opinion and I'm not gonna change that. It's a free country. You do what's best for you. :)

maybe not getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids then if you didn't realise calling people ignorant etc, unintelligent etc was name calling?

Really. you manage to get enough DHA? Call my cynical, but I don't believe you.

What are you talking about? I haven't changed my stance on veganism in two years. In many areas and times people do not have the ability to survive on vegan diets. For example, the Inuits ate pretty much entirely meat. They had to. Like carnivorous animals today, they have a right to life as well.

Too late to order a big meal. And I cant eat fish, I'm masively allergic to the skin so cant take the risk

Chuck 01-10-2011 09:39 PM

I have been a vegetarian for the past 7 years. I've never really liked eating meat though, when I was younger I didn't even eat fish or chicken because you can see the shape of the animal on your plate and I just couldn't eat it, I have always thought eating meat is vile and felt extremely guilty when I used to do so.

You've certainly changed your stance on this thread: sometime you hate non vegan, sometimes you don't.

Many specifically vegan foods are fortified with them now. I used to take vitamins, but I actually don't have to now because of the foods I eat.

Okay - so you've confirmed my point about supplements being recommended. (note: I did state recommended in my earlier post).
