I'm 15 this year and I never grunt or anything, I always reply and have conversations with my Mum. I don't get why so many do to their parents. If my mum brought up relationships or sex or anything I probably would grunt though.

I'd just leave him, as long as you have some conversation it'll probably be fine.

If I had a 15 year old son I would just get his dad/some other male to talk to him.

I read this as 'I have a 15 year old son' at first ah\

He's going through the awkward introvert stage, it's best to mostly leave him to it... you're more likely to get him to talk to you through bribery than trying to get into his mindset because he'll never share it with you willingly and if you ask, he'll get embarrassed/angry and become even more introverted. He'll grow out of it  if he wants to go out and do things he's not been allowed to before or hasn't ever done before, then, within reason of course, it's best to let him - 'cause he'll appreciate the fact you've given him some kind of respect or acknowledged he's maturing. But my general advice would be to leave him to his devices, he'll get pissed off at you for pretty much anything  - that's how my younger brother was and I'm sure I was guilty of at least some of what I've described when I was 15 too!

I hate it when people always say parents should have the talk with their kids, mine never did thankfully, my Mum asked me once if I needed a free chlamydia test when we were at the doctors though, it was very awkward

...and did you?..

It works the other way round too, I noticed my son was wearing a watch I hadn't seen before, when I commented on it, he said he got it free when he went for a chlamydia test....When I looked startled he said...'Oh, everythings fine...I thought I may as well have the free watch...'
...anyway, it was a sh*t watch

:joker: I think kids love free stuff, I once made a bank account when I was in secondary school just for a free phone, even though I already had one, the free phone was awful, but I was proud of it because it was free.

I didn't no, it was an embarrassing situation so I just moved things along  we had people come in to school giving them out as well but we didn't get watches unfortunately, just crappy little sperm keyrings

When talking with males, whatever you talk about it's usually best to be doing some activity while you're talking. And that's ESPECIALLY true when it's a sensative or awkward subject you want to discuss. Whether it's fixing your car, going bowling, shooting baskets, be sure you're doing something while you talk to them.
