And we'll never know. We'll be long dead before any of that stuff surfaces, so it's best we just get over it.

Well if we don't make the developments today then the results won't be rewarded later, will they?

If everyone had the lazy attitude of not bothering then we'd never develop over generations to the point of discovering anything. If generations of the past had simply said "Artificial light doesn't exist so let's get over it" we'd still be using candles.

The First People is a term I got from a Tv show that pondered the existence of humans before the dinosaurs. Nothing to do with cavemen, that came after.

Our wires obviously crossed a while back.

Yes because out of all the planets in the universe I find it very unlikely that Earth is the only planet with life on it.

Boothy 13-03-2012 06:38 PM

I think the universe is far too big for us to be the only life forms. Even if there's just some micro-organisms or something, there has to be something else.

CharlieO 13-03-2012 07:19 PM

I don't believe that there is even life on earth. I believe its all a manifestation of somethings mind or the extent of the universe is just an illusion.

Because, from what I learnt, the state of the planet was not habitable for the human species.

Humans as well as other living things can evolve.

Maybe back then we could survive on the conditions on the planet but millions of years on and after a huge climate change humans have adapted/evolved to survive in these new conditions.

:)

Please dont write another poem.

You're not Edgar Allen Poe.

I love astronomy!

I'm undecided because so far we can observe about 13 or so planets and lots more moons like the ones around Jupiter, but only one of them we have so far found life on, the Earth. Statistically that does make life very very rare based on only a fractional sample.

If they find some sort of life on Mars, microbial or whatever when they eventually go there, then I'll agree that there must be loads of life but if they don't find anything on Mars, then I reckon we're very very special indeed and it's possible no other life exists.

That's not how evolution works. Humans are mammals, and we know that mammals didn't exist back then. If/when we become extinct, there will be evidence left behind of our existence. There will be fossils, buildings, and things like technology, but there is no fossil evidence of any kind, and it is simply impossible.

Except history and science tells us we didn't come along until long after the dinosaurs became extinct. There'd be human fossils from those times if what you're saying was true.

So, even if humans existed back then. They would have had to become extinct before appearing again after the dinosaurs, not evolving. Yet, there's no evidence to suggest such a thing.

Except the universe is much bigger than that so you can't use statistics to make such a claim. 1 in 13 planets out of how many?
