To be fair pretty much the only people supporting him on Facebook were women from Londonderry (with the odd bloke thrown in)... They were all harping on about "supporting their own". It seems they only voted to save him because he was from their town, not based on what sort of a person he is

Ah, wasn't sure whether or not you could still do that, though I'd imagine most votes come from the phone vote.

And Derry only has population of about 200,000 and NI as a whole has about 1.8 million, compared with Great Britain which has roughly 60 million.

So it's a total of about 7million against around 62million - can't see that being the deciding factor.

Can't people just accept that he is entertaining?

Yep, pathetic :bored:

I would never support someone from where I live simply because of that fact, if they were a twat I'd hate them, I really don't understand that mentality at all...:conf:

this thread was a good read i love it how niamh gets all shirty when she has had a few shants.lol
the reason conor stayed is beacuse arron was being a vile pig and as much as conor was coming across nasty arron was takeing centre stage as king d*ck

fruit_cake 07-07-2012 10:16 AM

I do think that Conor probably did get more votes than the proportional amount he should have received if things were neutral, from Derry, and possibly Ireland but then again, Arron probably did from Manchester, and Deana and Becky from where-ever they originate from. Surely it's part of mass psychology to offer more support than a neutral would to 'our own' however disgusting they may be, rightly or wrongly.

Niamh is a popular Irish name.

There will of course be a section who will vote for him purely on nationality, but its shouldnt be given blanket ..."he will get the Irish vote" as that is just nonsense.

WozMan 07-07-2012 10:54 AM

I'm Irish and I voted for Becky in the hope of getting Conor out. Looks like I should have voted for Arron :(

lostalex 07-07-2012 10:55 AM

Conner was saved because he has a MASSIVE SCHLONG!! he obviously doesn't suffer from the Irish curse.

This is true. They spam Facebook constantly with their support of Conor, because Derry people stick together apparently.

Leon Jackson won X Factor because of the Scottish vote. I hate geographical bias - it ruins reality TV.:nono:

He is from Londonderry/Derry/Foyle City, which is in Northern Ireland.

I know there are some (ie Becky) who have "no interest in history...or...well, anything really." Nonetheless allow me to settle the question of whether Connor is Irish or British, for those who might be interested. Article 2 of the Southern Irish constitution was amended as part of the peace agreement in Northern Ireland. It now reads:

It is the entitlement and birthright of every person born in the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, to be part of the Irish Nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland. Furthermore, the Irish nation cherishes its special affinity with people of Irish ancestry living abroad who share its cultural identity and heritage.

However a further amendment will shortly be put to refferendum. It will add the words "except Connor from Big Brother" to the end of the first sentence. It is expected that the amendment will be made. However it is not known how the British State will react. Sources close to David Cameron have quoted the PM as having said "Well we're not having him either"

I know it's obvious that not all Irish people are the same and obvious that in any so called nationality or race that there are good and bad people. So racial or nationalistic stereotypes are a load of rubbish as not everyone within any so called group is the same.

The real truth is that it is the inability by some to put principles or morals before their need to watch a TV program that is the real problem here. They are just trying to shift blame onto someone else by blaming the Irish.

It's obvious that it is the inability to

a)put principles or morals before their need to watch BB or back Conor as they think he makes it more entertaining than good people and

b) the inability to understand that entertainment doesn't have to be about being nasty that are the real problem

It is possible to be entertaining without being nasty as has been proven so often by almost every other programmme apart from BB

and it just shows up the backing of the viewers for them using nastiness which is the real problem

when they should be putting pressure on the lazy BB production team to come up with other ideas for entertainment other than nastiness.
