it's not down to frankie boyle's comedy routine why people commit suicide, if they cant take a joke how ever offensive and have to top themselfs because of what someone said, then it's their own fault, they wont get no sympathy from me, i have my own problems to worry about, but wouldn't resort to suicide. everything he says you'll find them words in the oxford english dictionary, because that's all they are words, they cant do you no harm.

Well words they may be however we do have hate laws now to protect vulnerable groups against predudice.
He has a nerve taking action due to a slur against his character when he has made a packet during his shows doing the exact same to others....
I guess he just didn't see the funny side?

The Greek poet Euripides, who died about 406 B.C., said, "Η γλώσσα είναι ισχυρότερη από τη λεπίδα.", ie. "The tongue is mightier than the blade."

yes frankie doesnt seem to find it funny wheres his humour now? he laughs it off when those he discriminates against try to fight back, disabled people, deformed people, those who have lost legs in war, he laughs that off as trivial....yet when he is attacked he has no sense of humour. people like this attention seeking bigot are on tv to tens of millions, they influence how people, and young impresionable people behave. personally i would ban him for life from the bbc. he can cultivate his sick cult of people elsewhere, I dont want my tax being paid to promote this sick mans wages

well then euripides talked out of his backside, in my lifetime someone calling sombody else a name never killed them, but if someone stuck a blade in to somebody else, then i have seen people killed through that, but hey if you want to take the word of some ancient greek myth then go for it

That's actually a very good point Kizzy. If he wants to carry on with those types of jokes fine but he can't then complain when someone says something insulting about him

No he wasen't he was spot on, you can stick a knife in someone yes, but if you can talk 100 people into sticking knives in each other it's much more effective.

MTVN 17-10-2012 03:57 PM

This article accusing him of being a racist isn't the same as Boyle's jokes though, which while some might find offensive are made purely for comedic value and is essentially satire, he mocks stereotypes and the like with his material, brazenly branding him a racist is on the other hand actually a serious allegation

Niamh. 17-10-2012 03:59 PM

Can't have it both ways Matthew, if they had put "LOL" at the end of their article, would it be ok then? :pipe:

Vanessa 17-10-2012 04:00 PM

Good! I hate The Mirror. :nono:

I might mention Bulwer-Lytton's "The pen is mightier than the sword" (1839), too, and other numerous references to the efficacy of communication, but I don't think I'll bother ..... :idc:

But they are not joking, a big difference.

Kizzy 17-10-2012 04:17 PM

It's essentially like a toxic 'friend' (we all have one) taking the piss out of you and attempting to justify it by saying 'i'm only joking'
Then crying to everyone when she feels slighted....

The Mirror could be done for slander, so again a big difference to Boyle's jokes.

So what? Do you think Harveys parents and family found it funny when he was the butt of Boyles jokes? I find it funny that Boyle cries like a little bitch when someone insults him after all the s**t he says about people including specific disabled children

Shaun 17-10-2012 04:25 PM

Whilst the material that constitutes the Daily Mirror's idea of 'journalism' is indeed laughable, it's not meant in a light-hearted manner and is the hyperbolic vitriol of idiots.

Tbf loads of people joke about disabled children, I bet Katie Price has probably made sick jokes in the past herself, everyone does at some point, but I agree that it might have been extreme to do it right soon after being diagnosed as disabled.
