Can remember him saying he left his car on a pavement cause he was snowed in and posted a picture of it, and when he baked cakes

Brother Leon 08-12-2012 06:09 PM

Pretty much the same for me. Only difference is I talk to more people now

i am the same if the try to start i walk away

I'm not really a part of the bitchy in-crowd as much as I used to be. Whenever I talk with old members now it's about our lives, not about forum games or who Conzors has been camming with.

Redway 08-12-2012 07:11 PM

There were better members around when I joined (not that the current lot are no good but too many people have left/hardly post anymore) and as has been mentioned on here people got around this place and didn't just post in chat threads.

Visage, Stu and Zippy are big loses in particular.

Scarlett. 08-12-2012 07:58 PM

It's totally different from when I joined, lol

Munchkins 08-12-2012 08:01 PM

Mhm i used to really enjoy the forum, and look forward to chatting on it. Now i just hate the environment, i hate how paranoid it makes me feel and i hate the bitchyness :l

I'm hardly in touch with any of the oldies either lol, I remember when my MSN used to be full of members from this place :joker:

If you think it's bitchy now, you should have seen it in 2008 :p

MTVN 08-12-2012 08:22 PM

Not actually found it's changed that's much for me, I've noticed phases where there's been more conflict and tension but nothing major, though it does seem the place was quite different before I joined in 08/9. Also guess I've gradually got more confident on here and did find it quite an intimidating place at times when I first joined, always tried to avoid getting too caught up in any of the arguing and stuff though

When i first joined in 2008 it was really busy on here but everyone seemed to fallout with everyone, loads of dramas, spats and a mass TiBB riot when stropz (lili) was banned (that was hilarious). The admin posted a lot more too and I remember some drama between Mark and Hannah, lol, as well as a few fake members who pretended to be ill.

I became a mod in 2009 when I'd say TiBB was at its peak of arguments (BH vs Zeta) and the whole general atmosphere was very intense.

2010 I was away for most of but cam back into the thick of the Stacey/Thomas/Setanta era. It started chilling out nearer the end of 2010.

2011 became a lot calmer on here, there was still a few arguments, but the forum members and the mods seemed to focus a lot more on joking around, having fun and trying to keep TiBB going.

2012 has been a pretty chilled year, the odd spat here and there, but on the whole the forum feels a lot quiter.

InOne 08-12-2012 08:50 PM

It only feels quieter because nobody seems to actually post much. There's sometimes like 50 members on and most just lurk lol

She was banned for six months a month or two back (thankfully), so should be back in March.

And idek for Visage. Same for Bollo and Zippy tbh. It's like they've just vanished off the face of the earth lol

Z 08-12-2012 09:33 PM

It's changed so many times while I've been here...

When I joined, it was really tame on here. Threads would get locked if people had differing opinions, never mind arguing  but things were very civil and I'd say the forum population consisted of much older members. I was 13 when I joined and I think I was probably the youngest regular member on here apart from Corkie. Then there was the rise of a clique of users who had it out for me/lily/Kizwiz/Legend/Tanser Man and they were obsessed with Paris Hilton and were really bitchy and caused a lot of arguments on the forum and I left for a while because of it.

By 2007 the forum regulars were on average a lot younger, mostly teenagers, and there were constant arguments. The Zeta vs Brotherhood thing sparked up and I didn't really fit in with either crowd due to the previous tension with the Paris Hilton gang but I was friends with lily and then Shaun and Darenn who posted in the Zeta thread so I guess I was more in line with them. I started to get to know members my own age (Shaun, Darenn, Billy, Ross) and eventually started using MSN with other members but then had a ridiculous argument with Ross one day over my grandfather's nationality  which pissed me off beyond belief so I blocked all TiBBers on MSN and stopped posting in chat threads for a while.

When I eventually calmed down (like, months later) I became friends with what became my defining TiBB friendship group - Shaun, lily, Jen, LemonJam, Dezzy, Rory, MrGaryy, MarkWaldorf and sometimes Darenn. People slowly dropped off TiBB and I'm not as close to some of them as I once was but at that time I think we sort of migrated away from the forum for the most part and stopped being involved in the arguments that took place on the forum.

The crazy fighting in 2010-2011 was pretty stressful from a moderator point of view and we were constantly dealing with stupid fights. I stand fully behind each of the bans that were handed out at that time because it doesn't matter how much the people may have changed - it doesn't excuse the stupid things they did at the time. When I think back to what Tommy and Stephanie did to Kerry, for example, it makes me so angry, especially now that she's sadly no longer with us... and I liked them both as members, I just don't think it's acceptable to post other people's personal pictures or save them to your computer and brag about it or try and use it to blackmail people. I would be extremely angry if Stacey was ever allowed to return.

I think the rise of the chat threads kind of took all of the tension out of the forum but it's also made it more difficult to make friends... you're kind of expected to pick one chat thread and stick with it because that's what other people have done, and if you find that you get on well with one member then you're going to post where they post... hopefully in the future we'll just have one chat thread rather than two separate ones, but that might add more arguments... I've noticed in recent months that there are a lot of new members taking sides in conflicts that have been on-going long before they joined which I don't think is very healthy, it seems like there will be a lot more conflict in the future too.

InOne 08-12-2012 09:45 PM

I definitely do agree with the Kerry related bans more now, especially after her passing away. If anyone on a permban was let back it would probably send the forum into chaos

Z 08-12-2012 10:01 PM

I think undoing permanent bans is wrong, it undermines the situation that led to the permanent ban in the first place. We even tried letting a certain member back on the condition they didn't cause any trouble and after behaving for a few days, they kicked off again.

The thing with a banned member as well is that often it's not just the member in question who is the problem; but the people who have a problem with that member. If you unban Stacey for example, it doesn't matter how many people are thrilled that she's back, there are lots of people who never want to see her post on here again and they would all kick off as a result. Once the ban is done, it's final. A lot of consideration goes into a permanent ban and the mods just have to judge each case individually.

Back in the day, users received three warnings and if they got three, they were banned and that was that. It kept people in line a lot more. Nowadays I think people are a lot harder on the mods because they can get away with more than they used to. Before I was a mod, people would never criticise the mod team really, but when I became one the forum was a different place and we no longer had the warning system so it was down to us mods to decide... I don't regret leaving the mod team, you received so much abuse for so little thanks... they do such a wonderful job

InOne 08-12-2012 10:06 PM

Half the forum would be permbanned if there was still the 3 strikes rule LOL

GypsyGoth 08-12-2012 10:18 PM

Has the forum changed much since I joined?

Yes, is the short answer

I was unaware of this forum outside of the BB section, so my first impression of it was that it was a hive of activity and even at night there were a fair few about. I felt at home in the live discussion thread, and started to recognise names of people and had a laugh with them.

After BB ended I migrated to chat and games with the other 09ers  and I think Ross’s thread the Den became a kinda hangout. It never felt like a clique, and it was just about fun and chatting.

So anyway my impression of the forum now, I think the BBs here are less busy, but just as chaotic, although now I tend to avoid the madness.

I see Tibb Land as a direct continuation of The Den, and I have just as much fun as when I first joined. A lot of the people I chatted to when I first joined are still on the forum and there are a lot of new ones too, so this place always has a fresh feel about it to me.

I would have thought the two chat threads were a good idea, I never go in them but thought that tibbland was sort of for the younger more, er, girly members, and bell end was sort of 'blokey' for foozball and general chest beating?...

Jords 09-12-2012 12:18 AM

Bit boring now tbh

Yeah, we got 5 new additions to our team; Dezzy, Nathan, Josy, Niamh and Iceman.

Before that it was just really me, Vicky, Zee and Marc. Rory was occasionally on, 30stone didn't really appear, Princess and Lauren had stepped down and Sia never really came back after the switch over of the forum which meant she never got reinstated back as a mod.

Shaun 09-12-2012 12:34 AM

-could've sworn Niamh was a mod before Marc-
