There is no reason why moderators cannot be posters too. However, the fact that the posters who are moderators is advertised tips the balance of any conversation, I would respectfully suggest. When posters become moderators (as I believe is what happens here, rather than the reverse); they should simply become moderators. Correspondence between them and other posters would not need to identify the moderators by their posting moniker.

Hi Kizzy, First of all, I love the pogues, I love Julian Clary and I saw you were a friend of Pyramid so it's great to talk to you.

A bennite is just a fan of Ben in BB11 - though I notoriously resisted the term 'fan'. I prefer supporter. I don't do appreciation threads or any of that nonsense. :xyxwave:

I completely disagree with your first point. The familiarity of the Mods on here is a major turn off. They have their buddies and pets and hold grudges - from what I've seen. Not good - the DS model of being mods, rather than posters (and not wanting to be all things to all men) is a much saner, safer option. There's also a bit of grandstanding - do we really need to have I AM A MOD writ large under the name of a MOD everytime they post?

Tibbs is a great site, but it's exceptionally, extraordinarily unwelcoming, in my experience. Newcomers are treated with disdain and suspicion and a lot of people, I'd imagine, find the frosty reception doesn't balance the rewards of acceptance.

yes yes and YES

Sorry, am feeling a bit maudlin. Catch you around the forum xxxx

Ughhhhh, don't remind of the Bennites LOL they were so bloody annoying on the forum, thank god I wasn't a member of DS back then

Well that's out of our hands, personally I think it's better for the Mod's to be easily identifiable in case anyone needs to ask a question or need help with something, it also means that if a thread's getting out of hand then it can be solved by a Mod posting/advising it gets back on track instead of just anonymous infractions or whatever being handed out or threads being closed with no explanation

Shaun 11-01-2013 11:54 PM

I can't imagine being a mod on a forum where I just have to look out for people breaking rules and telling them off and not being able to write my own opinion

This thread is getting out of control, calm it down or infractions will be given

MTVN 11-01-2013 11:58 PM

Well exactly, where would be without Niamh's bold font, or Ben's orange writing, when things are getting a bit out of hand

I didn't come here til after BB11 - so don't know what it was like on here. Ben was by far the best of a bad lot for me that year. His fans were all so articulate. I'm an 'articulateness' (probably not a word) snob.:joker: A better class of poster  Fed into my need to ingratiate myself with my social betters................

If you need to ask a question or need help, there should be, and is, a point of contact. On other sites, the mods can happily and easily post to advise that a thread gets back on track as a site MOD, unidentified as an individual. I don't see where that would be a sticking point at all.

Giving your opinions is fine it's when those opinions start to upset other people thats when I think someone should be told, just my opinion of course,

There should be a separation, though, of the position of authority (which is necessary and great) and the position of a poster (which is necessary and great). Post as a mod when you're a mod; post as an individual otherwise. It's not rocket science - it works perfectly well elsewhere and avoids the pitfalls of sychophancy and tip-toeing and publicly aired vendettas.

Well, as a moderator on this site, I know I wouldn't stick around if I wasn't allowed post my opinion on Big Brother.............that was why I joined in the first place after all........are you expecting people to give up their time, unpaid, to just infract people and not actually be apart of the forum?

Ah yes I get it now, bennite haha!
Pyra and I clashed massively on most things socially and politically funnily enough,we were both quite dogmatic with our views:)
She was probably one of the friendliest posters in the forum to new members.
We had some great debates, and I miss her.
